From the time of Europe being rescued by Jan Sobieski's armies at the gates of Vienna, to the overthrow of the Shah of Iran in 1979 - weren't there opportunities to take on the Marauders who follow in the footsteps of the brigands which stormed out of the Arabian Peninsula 14 centuries ago.
Because of that, I see one reason for the pre-eminence of North America today: to deal with the blight whose epicentre is the Arabian Peninsula.
So, how difficult is it to communicate that why we have soldiers in Afghanistan, and other countries have soldiers elsewhere to deal with the scourge attributable to tribalism; the purpose being to catch up on business that wasn't concluded earlier? |
