"groups" as defined by our laws, are purely a semantical and conceptual theory, and need not exist in reality.

People who primarily view themselves as individuals don't get caught up in the 'group rights' thing.

The difficulty lies in that by giving rights on the basis of "group characteristics" the Law gives an impetus to people to start exercising power in that vein - and in fact strengthens the self-concept of group identity - rather than weakening it.

This inevitability undermines the very principles of classical liberalism and the legal origins of the notion of "equality".
