Oh, yeah, he wants $150,000 in damages, but he is willing to settle this for the bargain price of $10,900.
I can't think of any words that are contemptuous enough to use in response to that. |

The right words are "prove the damages".
If a person throws a book out of a window onto a crowded street, there is a principle in law that suggest the person could predict the harm it may cause - even if it was "by accident" that harm actually came about.
Now, I have no particular issue with professionals being concerned about their reputations. In fact I wish more would put thier professional ethics ahead of career mobility or quickbucks, as an example.
Often - the Professional Judgement that needs to be employed in a situation involving reputations is in the vein of "let matters be" and simply realize its a small "blip" of insignificance - and to blow it up larger than that is to bring further damage on yourself and reputation.
But when you fan fires, or amplify the friction, and then want to cash in on the heat - that's unreasonable. Lawsuits are a particularly effective way to fan fires and create friction. A polite phone call is usually a more effective approach. To begin the process of mediation through threatening and then pursuing legal action is simply begging for more damage...ergo - the book thrown onto a crowded street.
Topics at FD scroll through at lightning speed, and the only reason his name had a presence here for more than 15 minutes is because of the lawsuit he launched.
There's a common expression in business that talks about getting into peeing contests with skunks. I'll leave it to the reader to figure out why. |

I do not believe I have ever mentioned whats his name, so its not likely I will be on the front page.
On the other hand, maybe he is miffed because he thinks I am ignoring him out of malice or something.

At least with a common street criminal, you know you are dealing with a crook- he is nothing more than a silk-shirted thief.

Thank the Charter of Rights or Wrongs. If you read the charter [a tool to give lawyers more work and power]; it plainly says that Canadistan is a multi-cultural country and that aboriginals [ie. stone age peoples], and multi-cults [not sure what a multi-cult really is], have indeed more rights than the others. These are actual statements.
Using the CoR - a person can sue for any imagined slight - especially if they are a minority or multi-cult. Job loss, not getting into law school, offended by FD etc. Laws existed before the CoR btw which protected people against discrimination. The CoR added nothing new - except to really entrench power in the legal elite and spawn a massive industry.
Fight the lawsuit - at its core it is about money and freedom of dominion speech. |
