Faramir -- your conversations wouldn't be covered by the Canadian HRT because its mandate is federally-regulated means of communication-- like the internet. _________________ Follow Me on Twitter |

When I found out that bloggers were deliberately posting the offending comments on their blogs, I was incredibly moved. I don't think I've ever been so proud to be a Canadian. _________________ There is nothing worse than a wormy, half-decomposed cheesebread. |

So you should be - bloggers are not protected by CHRA Section 13 (3), so they are sticking their necks out and making life very hard for the CHRC.
The move is also focusing attention on the alleged 'hate speech' which is at the core of the complaint. I am sure he CHRC does not want to go down that road. _________________ Hall Monitor of the Shadowy GroupTM

Right E2 I like your attitude. Lets turn this around and get this to cause the CHRC to come crashing down. _________________ .

I doubt that the CHRC set out to awaken several thousand citizens who value their right to the freedom of expression. The ‘watch what you say’ shot across Free Dominion’s bow was intended to intimidate, not to start a grassroots revolution.
The last thing the CHRC expected was a respondent who would publicise a complaint rather than cowering under a desk, pleading for mercy, and hoping for the best.
Every one of us who considers the FD forums a home where we can make comments, debate issues, and express our opinions as long as we adhere to house rules, finds the CHRC intervention in FD affairs an unwarranted infringement on our liberty and rights. _________________ Hall Monitor of the Shadowy GroupTM

Could they go after Michael Coren for saying that in Islamic countries they would probably stone him for being a Catholic and a Jew? _________________ The opinions I have just expressed are my own. The owners of Free Dominion are not coercing any particular opinion from me.

Connie, are you keeping your cards close to your chest? Just curious when you are going to make a response to the CHRC - are you waiting to legal advice to make that response? Not that it is necc any of my business - just curious. _________________ The opinions I have just expressed are my own. The owners of Free Dominion are not coercing any particular opinion from me.

Very, very gratifying. Free speech in this country is not going to be undermined by a teacher in a junior college with a political agenda. _________________ Socialism works fine until you run out of other people's money --- Margaret Thatcher

| Quote: | The following are the COMMENTS on the Free Dominion website that have sparked an official Canadian government accusation of hate speech:
“I can’t figure out why the homosexuals I ran into are on the side of the Muslims. After all, Muslims who practice Sharia law tend to advocate beheading homosexuals.”
“I defy Islamic censorship and speak about what I believe is the truth about violent Islamism and its threat to religious liberty in Canada.” |
I know. Isn't it shocking? So long as we have so-called "hate speech" laws we cannot call ourselves a free country. _________________ Socialism works fine until you run out of other people's money --- Margaret Thatcher

I am thinking of filing a complaint with the CHRC. It's a freedom of religion complaint. It will be that Ms Gentes' complaint is an effort to silence Free Dominion and thus restrict my constitutional right to comment on Islam. If there is freedom of speech in this country there is also the freedom to comment on and critique religion - as Bill Whatcott was doing.
And since I have Morton's Toe I will try to get disability in there too. _________________ Socialism works fine until you run out of other people's money --- Margaret Thatcher
