Now judge puts green beliefs of a worker on a par with Christianity

Green beliefs are as worthy of protection in the workplace as religious ones, a judge ruled yesterday in a landmark case.

Christian groups said the decision was further evidence of Britain 'abandoning its Christian heritage' at a time of increasing discrimination against religion.

Legal experts warned the case would 'open the floodgates' for claims of unfair dismissal based on someone's environmental beliefs.

Tim Nicholson, 42, had claimed his desire to prevent climate change was protected under laws to prevent workplace discrimination on the grounds of belief. His employer argued that green views were simply a lifestyle choice.

Yesterday, Sir Michael Burton ruled at the Employment Appeal Tribunal that Mr Nicholson's green views qualified as a 'philosophical belief' under the Religion and Belief Regulations 2003.

This opens the way for the married father of one, from Oxford, to claim he was sacked because of his green principles, in the first case of its kind at an employment tribunal.

If he wins he could be entitled to an unlimited compensation payout.

Mr Nicholson was dismissed from his job as head of sustainability at Grainger, the UK's biggest residential landlord, which manages 27,000 properties worth £3billion.

He claims he was unfairly made redundant in July 2008, after two years' service, for criticising senior management.

His criticisms included accusations that executives failed to live up to their own green policies to cut emissions of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, including driving 'the most polluting cars on the road'.

When Mr Nicholson tried to find out how much CO2 Grainger emitted, executives blocked him.

Mr Nicholson said yesterday: 'I'm delighted with the result. I felt I was obstructed from doing my job properly, and in part that was because of my philosophical beliefs.

'My moral and ethical values are similar to those promoted by many of the world religions.

'The difference is mine are not faith-based or spiritual but grounded in overwhelming scientific evidence.'

However, Andrea Williams, of the Christian Legal Centre, condemned the ruling.

She said: 'When a country abandons its Christian heritage then what happens is there is no legal and moral framework for decision making.

'In a world of human rights, all kinds of religious and philosophical views compete and it leads to legal and social chaos.

'Christians are being discriminated against for holding orthodox views that have been protected in law over many centuries

in Britain. We have 45 cases where Christians have found themselves discriminated against.'

These include several highprofile cases involving the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

Former registrar Lilian Ladele is challenging the tribunal's ruling in support of Islington Council's decision to discipline her for refusing to carry out civil partnerships on the grounds of her Christian beliefs.

Christian airport worker Nadia Eweida is seeking to overturn a tribunal's ruling that British Airways did not discriminate against her when it refused to allow her to wear a silver cross neck chain in public view.

The Equality and Employment (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003 were brought in to stop employees being sacked on the grounds of their religion.

But after lobbying by secular groups, philosophical beliefs were also included. To qualify for protection, a philosophical belief must be 'genuinely held', be about a 'weighty and substantial aspect of human life', and have 'seriousness, cohesion and importance and be 'worthy of respect in a democratic society'.

But Jonathan Exten-Wright, an employment partner at legal firm DLA Piper, said that yesterday's ruling 'presents real practical challenges for employers - when will a belief be the type of belief that is

protected? The court describing it as being of a similar cogency or status to a religious belief leaves many questions unanswered. Understanding the dividing line in practice in the workplace will clearly be problematic.

'Ultimately it will be a test of causation, namely why someone was treated in a certain way but it is an area crying out for clear guidance.'

Peter Mooney, of Employment Law Advisory Services, warned the judgment 'would open the floodgates for others who believe their employers have victimised them simply because of their views on the environment.'

Dave Butler, of Grainger, said: 'Grainger absolutely maintains that Mr Nicholson's redundancy was driven solely by the operational needs of the company during a period of extraordinary market turbulence.

'Grainger rejects outright any suggestion that there was any other motivation relating to Mr Nicholson's beliefs or otherwise.

'We are looking forward to addressing the issues at tribunal level and demonstrating that there was no causal link between Mr Nicholson's beliefs and his redundancy.'

Hear, hear!!

Does this mean that the left-lib media will start to treat greens with disdain and disgust, and that society will treat them them as pariahs, just like they do with us Christians?

Just wondering...

Earth Charter
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The Earth Charter is an international declaration of fundamental values and principles considered useful by its supporters for building a just, sustainable, and peaceful global society in the 21st century. Created by a global consultation process, and endorsed by organizations representing millions of people, the Charter "seeks to inspire in all peoples a sense of global interdependence and shared responsibility for the well-being of the human family, the greater community of life, and future generations."[1] It calls upon humanity to help create a global partnership at a critical juncture in history. The Earth Charter's ethical vision proposes that environmental protection, human rights, equitable human development, and peace are interdependent and indivisible. The Charter attempts to provide a new framework for thinking about and addressing these issues. The Earth Charter Initiative organization exists to promote the Charter.

History

The idea of the Earth Charter originated in 1987, when the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development called for a new charter to guide the transition to sustainable development. In 1992, the need for a charter was urged by then-Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali at the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit, but the time for such a declaration was not believed to be right. The Rio Declaration became the statement of the achievable consensus at that time. In 1994, Maurice Strong (Chairman of the Earth Summit) and Mikhail Gorbachev, working through organizations they each founded (the Earth Council and Green Cross International respectively), restarted the Earth Charter as a civil society initiative, with the help of the government of the Netherlands.[2]

Strong, no longer in charge of any organization related to the charter, still gives advice and support.[2]

For those who may have dismissed the notion of a UN Agenda for a New World Religion used to usher in sweeping anti-constitutional environmental agreements, I offer the following.

“The real goal of the Earth Charter is that it will in fact become like the Ten Commandments.”
— Maurice Strong

“Do not do unto the environment of others what you do not want done to your own environment....My hope is that this charter will be a kind of Ten Commandments, a 'Sermon on the Mount', that provides a guide for human behavior toward the environment in the next century.”
— Mikhail Gorbachev, The Los Angeles Times, May 8, 1997

Maurice Strong- Man Behind Agenda 21 – Part 2

Posted on October 20, 2009. Filed under: Enemies of The State | Tags: Agenda 21, Maurice Strong, US Sovereignty |

Once again, thank you to Pam L. for your help in bringing this information to our attention! This is part 2 of the Maurice Strong database. See part one here: http://bit.ly/3YktrQ

The link between Agenda 21 and your changing world – socialism http://www.middletownca.com/MAURICE-STRONG-SOCIALIST.htm

The biggest threat to the sovereignty of the United States has to be United Nations Agenda 21. Its tentacles are so interwoven into our lives it is like an aggressive cancer.

This cancer, Agenda 21, also known as Local Agenda 21 or LA-21, is nothing short of an attack on this country. It came to life in 1992 and is spreading across the globe with the help of anyone who happens to buy into the idea of a global threat. Its real purpose is hidden inside a cloaked presentation of environmental sustainability, however, it is about control of your life, your children’s lives, their children’s lives and on into perpetuity.

Maurice Strong is an admitted socialist. His sister was a Marxist. He thinks you and yours have eaten too much, used too much and now must pay. Of course like every elite socialist, that just means you, not him, or his fellow elitist.

In 1991, Strong wrote the introduction to a book published by the Trilateral Commission, called Beyond Interdependence: The Meshing of the World’s Economy and the Earth’s Ecology, by Jim MacNeil. (David Rockefeller wrote the foreword). Strong said this:

“This interlocking…is the new reality of the century, with profound implications for the shape of our institutions of governance, national and international. By the year 2012, these changes must be fully integrated into our economic and political life.”

He told the opening session of the Rio Conference (Earth Summit II) in 1992, that industrialized countries have:

“developed and benefited from the unsustainable patterns of production and consumption which have produced our present dilemma. It is clear that current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class — involving high meat intake, consumption of large amounts of frozen and convenience foods, use of fossil fuels, appliances, home and work-place air-conditioning, and suburban housing — are not sustainable. A shift is necessary toward lifestyles less geared to environmentally damaging consumption patterns.”

In an essay by Strong entitled Stockholm to Rio: A Journey Down a Generation, he says:

“Strengthening the role the United Nations can play…will require serious examination of the need to extend into the international arena the rule of law and the principle of taxation to finance agreed actions which provide the basis for governance at the national level. But this will not come about easily. Resistance to such changes is deeply entrenched. They will come about not through the embrace of full blown world government, but as a careful and pragmatic response to compelling imperatives and the inadequacies of alternatives.”

”The concept of national sovereignty has been an immutable, indeed sacred, principle of international relations. It is a principle which will yield only slowly and reluctantly to the new imperatives of global environmental cooperation. What is needed is recognition of the reality that in so many fields, and this is particularly true of environmental issues, it is simply not feasible for sovereignty to be exercised unilaterally by individual nation-states, however powerful. The global community must be assured of environmental security.”

..OH, and they're right up front with it all:

History of the Earth Charter

The Earth Charter is a widely recognized, global consensus statement on ethics and values for a sustainable future. It was developed over a period of ten years, in what has been called the most extensive global consultation process ever associated with an international declaration.

The Earth Charter has been formally endorsed by thousands of organizations, including global institutions such as United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, and the World Conservation Union, IUCN.

The Charter's purpose is to inspire in all peoples a sense of global interdependence and shared responsibility for the well-being of the human family and the larger living world. It calls upon humanity to help create a global partnership at a critical juncture in history.

The Earth Charter's ethical vision proposes that environmental protection, human rights, equitable human development, and peace are interdependent and indivisible. The Charter claims to provide a new framework for thinking about and addressing these issues.

The World Commission on Environment and Development, otherwise known as "the Brundtland Commission", called for "a universal declaration" and "new charter" to set "new norms" to guide the transition to sustainable development. Maurice Strong was a distinguished member of the Commission.

The Earth Charter was proposed during the preparatory process to the UN Conference on Environment and Development -- best known as the Earth Summit -- held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992.

As Secretary General of the Conference, Maurice Strong was concerned about the need to move the agenda beyond limited priorities, set by governments, and include the resources and expertise of the vast peoples' networks on environmental issues throughout the world.

Writing in "Where on Earth are we Going?", Strong says: "As a result of endless consultation and advice, we decided to recommend to the Preparatory Committee that the conference be designed to produce a Declaration of Principles, which I proposed should be in the form of an Earth Charter, and a Plan of Action, which came to be called Agenda 21.

"The Earth Charter would reaffirm and build on the Declaration of the Stockholm Conference, IUCN's Covenant and similar statements that have emerged from other international processes, setting out basic principles to guide the conduct of nations and people toward each other and the Earth.

"The Earth Charter would set out the basic principles for the conduct of people and nations toward each other and the Earth to ensure our common future."

A draft UN Earth Charter was developed for the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, but the Rio Declaration became the formal statement the Summit. However, the proposal for an Earth Charter received considerable support from global civil society.

Later, Maurice Strong initiated the creation of the Earth Council, with the goal of activating and servicing a network of non-governmental organizations, committed to implementing the results of the Earth Summit.

In 1994, Maurice Strong and Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the Soviet Union, working through the Earth Council and the Green Cross, joined to launch the process of developing the Earth Charter as a civil society initiative

The process quickly broadened to engage national committees, as well as civic and academic consultations, in dozens of nations. The initial drafting and consultation process also drew on hundreds of international documents, with special attention to those statements of ethical principle that were already embedded in international agreements.

Maurice Strong wishes to clarify the current status of the Earth Council and his relationship with it. As Founder of the Earth Council and its network of relationships he has not for some time exercised Executive responsibilities, which have been transferred to others, but has had a continuing advisory and supportive role. He is pleased that the Earth Council movement continues to thrive through its network of organizations and affiliates which share common purposes but are each autonomous in nature.

Experience has shown that the Earth Council Alliance which was formed to facilitate cooperation amongst the organizations of the network has not needed to perform this role as it has been more effective for them to make their own arrangements for cooperation with each other. Accordingly the Earth Council Alliance is no longer effectively functioning and it is important to clarify that each participant in the Earth Council movement is free to exercise their autonomy in their own programs and in their cooperation with others in meeting their shared commitment to the goals and purposes of the Earth Council.

Accordingly, Mr. Strong is no longer associated with the Earth Council Alliance and continues to be devoted to supporting the further development of the Earth Council movement as a network of autonomous organizations. He wishes also to record his appreciation for the contribution that Tommy Short has made to the Earth Council through their joint participation in the Earth Council Alliance and Tommy Short's continuing role as the President of the Earth Council USA.

I have the strong feeling that this is the situation that forces the "end time" -- mankind's increasing tendency to "Gaia worship" gradually goes beyond lifestyle choices or political opinions to become a dangerous worship of the "living organism" of the planet itself, which, over time, will evolve as all false religions evolve, into service to the presumed deity, ending in the irrational choices that could include terminating human life to "serve" the goddess.

Of course, being a religion, this will actually play out in a master-servant paradigm where all but the religious practitioners will become vulnerable, whereas the practitioners will become invulnerable, hidden behind "temple walls" of some kind, free to live their green lifestyle in growing oblivion of the economic collapse happening all around them as a result of their decrees for the lesser people.

They will rationalize (like Fat Man Gore already has) that since millions now have reduced carbon footprints, their own larger ones will not matter in the balance, and besides, it serves the greater good of the religion (the evangelization aspects of their constant travel and high profile).

Sooner or later, the disconnect between this new earth-religion and both spiritual and material reality will force God's hand, and bring about His intervention in our free will experiment.

This certainly fits the wording of most end-time prophecies, in particular, the concept that the majority will believe a delusion and turn on the true faith in the latter days, even raising up one of their own number as an earthly god.

In some ways, these prophecies are already fully realized, at least in the spiritual sense. Nobody has been formally declared as a deity yet, but it's not from their own lack of trying.

If the earth people have finally been declared a religion does this mean we can finally get it out of the schools?
