| Quote: | DAYTON, OH, August 29, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In an unexpected development that has social conservatives cheering, John McCain announced his choice of dark horse Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.Governor Palin, the first woman elected as Alaska’s governor, is well-known for her strong and public stance on life and family issues. Palin, a Christian, is a long time member of Feminists for Life and a mother of five children.
The choice of the extremely popular 44-year-old governor and former beauty queen for VP came as a shock to most, as attention had in recent days largely been concentrated on more prominent prospects such as Mitt Romney, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and Sen. Joseph Lieberman.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a political action committee helping pro-life women gain election to Congress, enthusiastically welcomed McCain’s choice. “Sarah Palin is the whole package,” she said. “There couldn’t be a better vice presidential pick.”
“Women voters are electrified, and Sarah is someone who is truly in sync with the way real American women think. She is a reform-minded woman who will give all Americans, born and unborn, the authentic leadership they deserve….By choosing the boldly pro-life Sarah Palin as his running mate, John McCain has taken his stand as the one true, authentic pro-life ticket.”…. |
I’m loving this.
Hilary Clinton, the pro-abort Queen, didn’t make president and got passed over for VP, yet now we have a 44 year old woman who has a shot at being the first vice president ever. She represents everything that Hilary Clinton is not. And she’s going up against an old man, representing old politics. I’m going to like watching him debate her. Once again, it will be a liberal old white man from the establishment telling a young, hip, “with it”, conservative woman how great abortion is. Yowser! That’s going to be entertaining to watch for sure. She’s going to eat Biden for lunch. Just seeing the spectacle of a young, vibrant woman being talked down to by a pro-abort like Biden is going to be very dangerous for the Demon-crats, optically speaking. The whole optics should be reversed. The Conservative is supposed to be the old, white guy.
So, let’s review all of the angles that McCain covered with his selection:
- taps into someone who is very capable and intelligent, judging by her record and recent speech (she’s no Dan Quayle);
- shores up the conservative and Christian vote;
- drops the age problem for the ticket;
- brings an outsider on to the ticket - she’s from Alaska, for Pete’s sake (compare that to Obama’s “Change” with the consumate big insider Biden);
- adds someone who considers her job a VOCATION instead of a career to advance her own agenda i.e. her political life started as a member of the local PTA then moved from there.
- appeals to women voters, especially the less shrill feminists (not like Geraldine Ferraro);
- appeals to mothers because she is more than a “one child policy” subscriber (she’s got 5);
- appeals to disabled persons because her last kid had Down Syndrome and she refused to abort (as opposed to Obama who likes to vote for infanticide);
- appeals to the “easy on the eyes” (superficial) crowd i.e. she’s a knock-out former beauty Queen
Vice Presidents normally don’t mean a hill of beans in presidential races. However, I think this woman is going to be a real problem for Obama and Biden.
Madam Vice President…I like the sound of that.

What an irony if she ever became president.
All of the efforts of the rabid feminists would be for nothing.
Talk about poetic justice.
If it happens, I think I just might put that as the #1 reason to believe in God. _________________ Socon Or Bust: http://www.socon.ca/or_bust/

IF McCain wins:
As the next four years go by, we will see what kind of a government he establishes, and how closely Palin is by his side. We all know the Republican Party needs to revolutionize into something less liberal, and the sooner the better. Here is our problem: IF Palin establishes a high approval rating and keeps it, and America somehow floats through this "recession" rather well, the Republican Party will not need to revolutionize itself, and I fear that that will be the big downfall of Vice President Palin. It has the potential to significantly delay something very much needed.
If McCain loses but Palin hugely embaresses Biden:
Palin will most likely be the candidate in 2012 for the Republicans, putting the final nail in Billary's coffin, and throwing Obama's 2nd term possibilities into huge questioning as he tries to ressurrect an economically-suffering America.
If Palin outshines McCain, (it would be a given that she then also outshines Obama)
McCain can streamroll whatever he wants through the White House cause he's got Palin. Look for Liebermann to get a cozy position. _________________ The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta has one shot, their nomination to replace Klein, he will win, and his legacy will be that of a man who had failed to be the backbone of a party, as he lets a divided party run him. A replacement will be found soon, perhaps the current Alberta Alliance, likely something else, but still as conservative.

Well, its the end of the day in most ways, and the end of the print day for tomorrow, and I see absolutly no leaks containing what the Obama camp's reaction is.
I'm guessing they're still trying to figure out how to react, must have been a hell of a surprise. The question is, have they decided whether or not they are scared yet?
My guess: We won't see any real reaction until the day before the St. Paul Convention ends, they'll need to float a couple of statements, and take a couple dozen polls to see how they can attack her. But they HAVE to make a real reaction by then, because if they can't make any headway on making McCain or Palin say something defensive during the convention, they are going to completely give up the Post-Convention lead and maybe a nother point or two after that. _________________ The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta has one shot, their nomination to replace Klein, he will win, and his legacy will be that of a man who had failed to be the backbone of a party, as he lets a divided party run him. I love the fact that the dems have been put in this position. Whether it's a Condoleeza Rice, a Clarence Thomas or a Miguel Estrada, it's really fun to watch them come up with reasons why these people aren't good enough or just aren't quite right.
Already I saw a comment somewhere about the fact that Sarah Palin has a down syndrome child and it would therefore be difficult for her to do this job. How long before they start calling her selfish for wanting the job. These people are incredible. |

Well, time will tell, but we all kinda knew that the long-term for the GOP answer was gonna come out of someplace like Montana, Wyoming, or, (gasp) Alaska. _________________ The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta has one shot, their nomination to replace Klein, he will win, and his legacy will be that of a man who had failed to be the backbone of a party, as he lets a divided party run him.
