Alberta is on hold right now, waiting for the next election. Because of the election process, NDP and Liberal voters helped to determine who won the election, this still has me steaming
People who held active memberships in other parties such as the liberal and the NDP are not permitted - to my understanding - to hold a CPC membership or a membership in any other party. (I am not 100% sure on this for Liberal but NDP for sure). The Alliance, however, was actually ENCOURAGING their members at one point to go and buy memberships in a party they didn't believe in just to influence the outcome. What business is it to them who wins? They aren't CPC!
The CPC was encouraging people without a membership to come and vote. They even allowed memberships to be purchased between the first and the second ballot! You can't do that and then complain!
So, we ended up with a Dion, this will not be acceptable to most Conservative voters
He's framed as a bit of a compromise between the Dinning and the Manning ideologies. I think it's too soon to write him off. He's a big question mark to me.
Sorry Stelmach, I have nothing against you, but you are not a leader, I want Klein back,
Whoever thought someone would say that!
he was pushed out by Dinning (why do I keep thinking Dingwall?),
It was bigger than Dinning. He got a very low level of support in the leadership review.
or going forward, I want Morton to start/lead a party that I can vote for. I'm glad Dinning the Liberal lost, but sad that Morton the Conservative lost as well, now we are stuck with a lame duck
There are no signs of Morton starting up a party and he pledged he wouldn't be a sore loser and he'd stick with the party.
Thank goodness right now the federal government is Conservative, the Liberals would steal our "easy" money and shut down the oilsands.
Mr. Harper is promising to green up our oil sands soon.
Is there an alternative choice, only if the Alberta Alliance gets some credible people to run for them next election.
That's possible. There might also be a split.
