Stelmach warns Ottawa on oil sands

Provinces can reclaim constitutional provincial jurisdiction
within confederation, without permission of Ottawa.

You really shouldn't quote yourself. It's vain.....

Rest assured I am a partisan hack.

Less Ottawa never hesitates to quote me however thus I figure it is fair game. ;)

How about no Ottawa and less Edmonton. We are now carrying two knives in our back. Betrayal is the proper word. I'd be ready to vote for just about any party that would put Stelmach and gang on trial for crimes against Albertans.

It is past time to rid Alberta of the tired old PCs.

Much of the reason is that we need somebody to stand up to Ottawa.

Most here are aware of my bias. I think the Alberta Alliance is the route to pursue that change.

Many people feel that is not the route and that is fair.

What I would like to know however is; if not the Alberta Alliance, then who?

I am all ears.

That doesn't make any sense Cory. The only way to get somebody to stand up Ottawa is to first get rid of the PC's. Unless you know another way.

I wonder who the unlucky 100 top companies are who the PC's are going to run their extortion racket on. I'd like to see them close their doors and topple this government.

Oh please don't misinterpret.

I badly want to get rid of the PCs. That is why I am with the Alberta Alliance.

There are some who feel that the Alberta Alliance is not the party to do the job however. That is their right of course.

What I am asking though is if not the AA, then who and how?

I'm so pissed off with these bastards I'd just as soon settle for a cartridge box as a ballot box. Other than that, the Alliance is the next best choice at the time.

Just because it is Alberta doesn't make it any different than anyplace else.

There are many on here who scream about subsidies to farmers, when it is farmers who are struggling to pay bills

Uh, subsidies are strewn all over the place - mostly Ontario and Quebec. And these are NOT subsidies. They are tax delays. That's all.

I have been crystal clear in my previous postings on PA and FA on what I support, and the political route on how to get there. I won't sidetrack the thread by repeating it here.

However, since you seem a bit feisty, and since you are attempting to mislead Albertans on this board with your phoney Alberta Alliance "tough guy" rhetoric, what I will do is start a series of posts in future on the Alberta Alliance platform, show where it is deficient, explain why it is unworthy of support, and then conclusively prove why it is that we need a new provincial party to espouse an unapologetic independence platform.

What I want from you in the meantime is (i) some information as to where I can get copies of all Alberta Alliance policy motions to be considered at the upcoming convention, and (ii) advice as to whether anybody will be blogging about the convention.

You probably want to email the VP of policy if you have questions regarding policy.

You have a pie in the sky vision of some independence party popping up.

Thats fair enough. There is no such party on the horizon right now however.

Personally I would like it if Santa Clause came along and fixed every problem we have. I still hold out hope for that .

I understand though that Santa is very busy and it may be some years before he comes to help Alberta out. Instead of sitting on my butt waiting for Santa, I am seeing what can be improved upon in the meantime. We still have taxation, democratic, health, infrastructure and scads of other issues that wont go away while waiting for Santa to arrive.

By all indications, a viable party with separation as it's main basis is years if not decades away right now.

I won't sit on my butt waiting for a magic bullet party dying on the hill of idealism.

You have no solutions Less Ottawa. You are simply a critic. You knock the efforts of others while presenting no other alternative.

It could have been the AA, if a better leader then Paul Hinman was selected, since his election as leader our chances have dwindeled away slowly but surely.
Should the next Alberta election be between a PC party led by Morton, and a Wildrose Alliance party led by Smith. No matter the winner Alberta Separatism will rear its head with more force than seen in the 80's before the winner calls a third election.

Alberta is on hold right now, waiting for the next election. Because of the election process, NDP and Liberal voters helped to determine who won the election, this still has me steaming. So, we ended up with a Dion, this will not be acceptable to most Conservative voters. Sorry Stelmach, I have nothing against you, but you are not a leader, I want Klein back, he was pushed out by Dinning (why do I keep thinking Dingwall?), or going forward, I want Morton to start/lead a party that I can vote for. I'm glad Dinning the Liberal lost, but sad that Morton the Conservative lost as well, now we are stuck with a lame duck. Thank goodness right now the federal government is Conservative, the Liberals would steal our "easy" money and shut down the oilsands.

Is there an alternative choice, only if the Alberta Alliance gets some credible people to run for them next election.

.

People who held active memberships in other parties such as the liberal and the NDP are not permitted - to my understanding - to hold a CPC membership or a membership in any other party. (I am not 100% sure on this for Liberal but NDP for sure). The Alliance, however, was actually ENCOURAGING their members at one point to go and buy memberships in a party they didn't believe in just to influence the outcome. What business is it to them who wins? They aren't CPC!

The CPC was encouraging people without a membership to come and vote. They even allowed memberships to be purchased between the first and the second ballot! You can't do that and then complain!

So, we ended up with a Dion, this will not be acceptable to most Conservative voters
.

He's framed as a bit of a compromise between the Dinning and the Manning ideologies. I think it's too soon to write him off. He's a big question mark to me.

Sorry Stelmach, I have nothing against you, but you are not a leader, I want Klein back,

Whoever thought someone would say that!

he was pushed out by Dinning (why do I keep thinking Dingwall?),

It was bigger than Dinning. He got a very low level of support in the leadership review.

or going forward, I want Morton to start/lead a party that I can vote for. I'm glad Dinning the Liberal lost, but sad that Morton the Conservative lost as well, now we are stuck with a lame duck
.

There are no signs of Morton starting up a party and he pledged he wouldn't be a sore loser and he'd stick with the party.

Thank goodness right now the federal government is Conservative, the Liberals would steal our "easy" money and shut down the oilsands.

Mr. Harper is promising to green up our oil sands soon.

Is there an alternative choice, only if the Alberta Alliance gets some credible people to run for them next election.

That's possible. There might also be a split.
