Too bad about the under-powered ratings of the John Deere Gator line. Around these parts, towns lucky to have a mail box or a Greyhound drop off have more than likely got a John Deere parts / service outlet or authorized repair source.

The City of Whitefish has one which they paid about $14K for.

They use it for plowing the bike paths and parking lots.

Works fine.

It's just not in the running as an atv.

The Kawi mule pretty much defined the market.

I like the fact that Polaris is an American firm, even though it didn't occur to me initially. We need all the help we can GET at this time.

Since noone ELSE is giving me any useful suggestions...here's a couple that escaped my initial inquiries:



the venerable '78 Rokon....a TWO WHEEL DRIVE "bike" that handles like a freight train, but which theoretically will haul/drag a full grown bull elk out of the woods.

No creature comforts, however...not even a fuzzy shift knob to keep your hand warm as you ford streams and traverse 60% slopes.





...then, there's the inimitable Max ATV, with it's sturdy roll cage and amphibious habitue:



If you can find enough people with brain damage helmets to ride with you, no one will EVER tell you're going the wrong way....since you can't differentiate from the front & rear anyway.

The farm I lived near a few years back had one of these. When the beavers built a dam he could still get to it and remain dry.

War wagon PigDog today after lift, Allied Daytona wheels and Trxus M/T tires. These shots were taken this morning. Well into winter and the hard top's not back on yet.

JBS - Note the parking lot the PigDog is in. 10 - 12 vehicles tops. Basic business park stuff surrounded by a dozen others essentially the same. I'm told we're almost more trouble than we're worth in that travel, unloading and reloading take longer than the plowing. A guy with a quad and a blade could do well in these settings - just go across the street and do another one, etc. A ten car lot could be done before the big guys were unloaded.

I think that would have to be an after-market option, though.

Sweet. I'd love one of those too...any thoughts on how to convince the wife we need to have one of those in the garage?

I had a great visit with Polaris at the SHOT Show back in February. I had just met with Browning and noticed next to their booth that Polaris was there showcasing the new Ranger 700. However, this machine was a little special as it was a Browning Edition full of great accessories and of course the great Browning logo.

It comes with a 700cc twin EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) powerplant, awesome winch, camouflage plastic and rims, rear independent suspension, huge dump box, and great powder-coated roll cage and front bumper. It is set up to hold a ton of accessories.

This machine has all of the hardest working, smoothest riding features of the RANGER XP, 1,000-pounds cargo capacity, 1,500-pounds payload/towing and 50 mph top speed, with the addition of a Mossy Oak� patterned body. I'm just not certain you can get a matching CAMO CAB setup.

Also, there's the alternative issue whereby you can disguise your rig, but once separated from it in the woods, it MIGHT be desirable to find it after trudging around in the wild looking for deer, etc.
