True, but they weren't doing too badly without them, overall.

That shows depth.

They outshot the Habs on the night, but the veteran players didn't come through in terms of leadership.

Hopefully (at least for me), they just had an off-night.

Often, the underdog wins the first game when the favored team takes them too lightly at home.

Having the #1 seed isn't as big of a deal as it used to be. 10 years ago, a team with 115 points would likely play a team with about 75-85 points. Now they play a team with about 90-95 points.

It will be the Detroit Red Wings who come home with the Stanley Cup. I offer my sympathy to all non-Wings fans, maybe in some future year one of your teams might be able to pull it off. :hurray: :hurray:

Uh, you mean like last Saturday?

Actually, I made my predictions of the demise of the Toronto Cream of Leafs in the fall of 2005:

* months before the Toronto Cream of Leafs proved their ineptitude this season.

* months before Ti Domi of the Toronto Cream of Leafs professed his support for Belinduh during the last federal election, and actively campaigned for her.

* an entire season before Pat Quinn, head coach of the Toronto Cream of Leafs was fired for his participation in running the Cream of Leafs into it's current hole. :D

I wish I could find links to my previous posts on this subject, but I haven't found a way to do so, yet. :)

Nice win tonight, Bolts!

Likewise, Oilers!

Now, if we could just get the 'Canes going!

Only Kovalev, no 'Canes.

Esche was fantastic for Philly, but how about that hit by Campbell on Umberger? Wow!

I thought it was clean, too.

One of the best playoff games I've seen in awhile.

After 2 games the Flames and Ducks are tied with one win each and five goals each. Looks like it'll be a 6 or 7 game series.

The Hurricanes finished 0-for-5 on the power play and clearly missed Erik Cole and fellow left wing Ray Whitney, both of whom sat out with injuries. Cole missed the final 22 games with a fractured vertebra - Carolina won only 10 of those - and Whitney didn't dress for the final six with a lower-body ailment.

Each are valuable on the man-advantage, and their absence was glaring for this one. Very Happy

Carolina is missing 2 of their top 6 players.

True, but they weren't doing too badly without them, overall.

Since Whitney got injured (already missing Cole) for the final six games of the season; Carolina allowed 24 goals (4 per game) and only scored 16 (2.66 per game).

April 18 – Sabres won 4-0
April 15 – Tampa Bay won 3-2
April 14 – Tampa Bay lost 5-4
April 11 – NJD won 4-3
April 8 – Atlanta wins 5-2
April 7 – Washington loses 4-3

Not saying Carolina doesn't have talent but they are definitely playing handicapped... ;)

I was surprised that, in every series where two games have been played so far, the underdog has managed to bring it home at a split series. Looks like we're not going to see any sweeps.

I can't stand the Sens but Alfredson is my top player in my pool. Still, I'd like to see them lose.

Montréal takes the second game in 2nd OT 6-5 :hurray: :hurray:

Man what a crazy game that was

Judge for yourself

And I think we WILL see a sweep.. The Rangers are simply no match for the Devils, and Jagr is hurt. having him playing at 110% was their only hope of winning...

New House (of Commons) League Payoff Predictions:

With the new Accountability Act these will become increasingly rare. A number of Liberal lobbiests will go home due to lack of business. I am hoping for a criminal conviction for Chretien or Gagliano, but probably not likely. Probably have to pay some chairman of a Crown corporation a big payoff to make him go away.

Whew!

Oilers win it 4-3 in second overtime period to take 2-1 series lead. :hurray:

Man, I thought Detroit had won it in the first overtime period and I was cursing Roloson pretty good (must have been the beer). :D

It turns out that (after video review) the puck had gone in under the side of the net.

Tampa Bay just stunk tonight, but it appears Ottawa is the better team, unfortunately.

That series is really starting to get chippy.

We didn't get the Flames game here in the east tonight, but I see they did okay.

I think the Sharks are now in the driver's seat with Nashville.

Gotta hope the 'Canes can get their act together in Montreal, otherwise, they're gone in four straight.

The question is, do you start Gerber or Ward?

I'd go with Ward.
