Ok folks we are all here for a good cause. Now that I have gotten to know what this site is all about it is now time to introduce a new concept hardly mentioned on this site. This proposal is one where many of you will oppose and other will strongly consider. The following exert is from the introductory comment proposed by Johnathan Weelwright.
Amalgamation of Canada and the United States of America
by, Jonathan Wheelwright
Is the 49th parallel an unmalleable line, set for all time to be the divider between two parallel worlds? Just why do the United States stop at an arbitrary line? Are we destined to be one nation under two political entities? Is what differentiates our two countries greater than what we share in common? As Europe unites, will North America stagnate and fall behind, squabbling over trivial differences? Are Canadians and Americans really so different? Would Canada stand to gain or lose in being part of a larger group of United States? Would the United States gain or lose from a United North America without borders?
"United we stand, divided we fall."
In basic terms Canadians are also Americans. Our governments may be very different but individually our beliefs are very similar. The proposal of a merger between the United States and Canada does not have to be annexation but it could be something like a political union.
The first time such a proposal be laid down in Ottawa it would proberly cause a big political up roar and amy initially be rejected by the socialists. Ultimately the goal is to gain more support and talk reunification in some way or another. Canada will have to change and so won't the United States for a political union which I believe is feasible. So what do you think of what changes should implemented in both nations?
