University biases in Canada

Postby Dagny » 09/ 14/ 04 10:44 am

Hi all,
I posted about this in another section, but I thought it deserved its own thread. I was looking for personal stories about experiences with bias in our universities or times when you felt silenced or that you couldn't express your opinions openly in class.
This issue has been discussed at length in the US, but I haven't seen much of it in Canada.
I'm a UVic student, which is a very left-wing place, that's hostile to diverging viewpoints.
Myself, I was taught Marx in at least 5 or 6 university classes. Over and over his ideas were discussed, without balance or discussion about what they look like in practice.

That's because the same bias exists in our media.

I have dealt with the tyranny of Leftwing politics when I went to school....back the PC (political correctness or more accurately cultural Marxism) was just taking hold of the reins of Campus student and executive administrations......same old story...every tenet of PC was made a bylaw on the campus....it had the effect of central control of thought/speech/action and most noticably...political conformity. That was at a southern Ontario technical college...my friends at McMaster and WLU had worse stories.

Recently I took a certification upgrade at U of G and was present when a group of lefty nihilists in student council were working to ban observance of Rememberance day and previously has been instrumental in inciting the mob of nose-pierced nihilists that ran Legion poppy sales and CAF recruiters off campus.

I do read about the new Islamic cults forming on Campuses in Quebec and TO that are gooning Hassidic Jews and leading som pretty violent anti-Isreai protests.....jewish students on these campuses have told the media that they no longer feel safe on Campus.

In my opinion and observation any Campus with non science/technical bent is permeated with radical leftist politics in it's student body and administration and tenured staff...the course of studies will reflect the level of damage errant leftist fringe politica has had there....look for courses which produce no marketable skills in a graduate....like "women's studies. Muslin history, gay culture studies, or anything that wants to spin history or world politics into something more political than historic record.....there you will find a nest of ideological serpents undermining reason, tolerance, reality and turning a place traditionally made for free exchange of thought into an intellectual and political gulag.

If radicalism is established in US campuses, you can be sure it's further advanced in Canada.....which has suffered under the tyranny of a leftwing academic/political pseudo-intellectual ruling class elite for 40 years.....radicalism of the campus was the incubator that produces loons like Carolyn Parrish and Hedi Fry.
Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive; those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. - C.S. Lewis, In Freedom .
