I've left a folding camp chair in the car and go out to a lawn area at the edge of the lot where some trees and shade are. Some of the gals take a blanket there and have a picnic, including stuff-thrown-in-face girl. Here's the gal buddy unloaded into the face of, his MasterCard cutting her just below the eye. She was having a good week before that because she got her drivers licence.

She's a pretty one. Let's hope she has no more experiences like that- most people are pretty good folks but every so often you run into one that makes you want to run screaming out the back door of the store.

Despite Satchel Page's wise advice sometimes you need to look back to see where you're going- I took a look two years ago:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=132803&start=195

It's a pity the graphics from the older version of the board don't work anymore- you can cut & paste the addies but I suspect few casual lookers bother. One of my favorite pictures of Emily- the text is at the link- is this one:

Image

There's a lot of loss and longing back then... but even so “my life is moving onward,” even then. The flow of time pins Emmy inexorably to that point of death and mine? Moved on.

I've put off running errands so I can do a “great circle run” and do them all at once and I think I'll treat myself to another Chinese takeout. I have really been living extra-frugally recently. Still, I reckon I need to bite the bullet and start that application for social security disability. I dread the idea. And I well may be rejected. And well may appeal if so. But I need to do it while Zer0 is still in office and the process is being used to bribe people. They are more lax than they have ever been, which is in my favor. Might as well use it.

If Chick-fil-A has any stickers I am going to get two and put them on truck & car. This whole affair has at least the possibility & potential for being “a thing profound.” A game changer.

You do know why the Tea Party is so studiously belittled, smeared, ignored, and slandered by both- I say & note- both parties, the MF'ing Media, and others?

They fear us- we are a bottom up, leaderless resistance and a threat to their status quo. A status quo they are all fat, dumb, & happy with.

The “chicken disses the hat” has that potential. I don't think I'm alone- I've always had a live & let live attitude but I do not like being bullied into silence or told I can't speak freely.

And all the Ghey Jive aside, it's a free speech issue. And a bully issue. And a PC thought police issue. And I'm tired of getting and taking their BS. Most of it is “looka Me!” toddler-like nonsense to start with. Like their stupid, fizzling “kiss-in.” I wish they'd been fool enough to do more of that because it is a perfect illustration of everything wrong with these slimy, noisy “activists” and their GD precious “issues.”

I laugh at their “issues”- get a life and quit annoying people. You got the equal treatment you said you wanted- don't push it further or you will get blowback. It's already started.

Special long weekend here gift for backhoe - London Calling Live. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band before 600,000 people at Hyde Park. The song is "American Land". The whole cast is there. The Big Man Clarence Clemons was still alive and Steve Van Zandt had just wrapped up his role in The Sopranos.

Bearing in mind that while this newer netbook has better audio than the old one- I'm deaf as a post, anyway... guns & high explosives- so the main impression I took away from that was blonde fiddlers, do-rags, and accordion players...

I used to like Bruce OK but when he turned into a Bamster Booster

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2002386/posts

I lost any interest in whatever career he has left.

Rotsa Ruck to him and may the door not hit him on his way out...

In other news The Kid poked me up at 2:30 to go out and after getting him back I threw in the towel & started the wash, got the house going again.

I see we have another manufactured “controversy...”

http://www.grouchyconservativepundits.o ... ;topicseen

I denounce them all! RAAACIST! So, everyone feel better after that? Idiots, hectoring fools...

The two tropical storms offshore

http://www.grouchyconservativepundits.o ... ic=48398.0

brought rain and cooler weather so the house is open- at least where it doesn't let the rain in- and I'm fixing Chinese leftovers for brunch.

Even if I didn't know there are two tropical storms out there and even if it weren't storming like it is now I'd know something was afoot from my behavior. I just finished some French toast, before first light I heated a side of boil in bag rice and scooped out half of the meat & vegetables from last night's takeout.

There are other games afoot as well, Watson- here's a link to what I think is a Tsunami forming up:

Just had a little “in the silence of my soul moment.”
Just a small one. A tiny little thing, but still?

Reading about “Scottie's” ashes being shot off to space, remembering how much the worlds of Star Trek & Dr. Who & Harry Potter were part of Emily's world, from childhood.

There are a lot of terrible things about having no human children. One is if Helen & I and Emily & I had had some they would remember parts of the worlds I had with my wives.

There'd be some continuance besides my fungible memories. Funny, I just realized I never made “a box of memories” for Helen. I do have a lock of her hair somewhere, cut when she was in her coffin.

Somewhere.

Does not matter, I suppose- in the end there is only...

...The Silence...

Isn't it odd how life & the living of it changes you? I'm placing this here so I can find it- True Blue Liberty:

http://www.trueblueliberty.com/index.php

Nosing around other forums- I think it was Liberty Post- I found it mentioned as a place where former Freepers congregated. They used to at LP. TBL refers to TOS-- “the other side,” a phrase I associate with now-dead Gulf Coast Pundits- which was the refugee site from Little Green Footballs...

Kinda convoluted, isn't it? Early in my days at Free Republic there was a great dustup over Snow Bunny- to the point the whole post about it got nuked- hidden, actually. Alternative sites sprang up purporting to tell the truth about FR- I even had a file for this stuff, and still may- I lost interest years ago. Let's just say “things were not quite as they were represented by any of the sides of these matters.”

Likewise if you search backwards in The Dark Underbelly's last iteration-- 11- with the string Blog Warz you will find my postings on the LGF/GCP flap-- unfortunately since a lot of that points to the original GCP which is gone, a lot dead-ends. The Blogmocracy was yet another site created for those kicked off LGF- I nearly forgot to mention them and I am, far as I know, still a member in good standing there- I just haven't been there in ages. The new Grouchy Conservative Pundits ( GPC, get it? ) is where the best of LGF settled so I settled there.

It's all very Byzantine and until a few years ago, Emmy's Death, and a few other life-changers I had entertained the idea of writing a humongous mega-summary about sites & bannings & personalities & alternate sites as a variant of Dante's rings of Hell.

Then I lost interest. It is what it is. Blogs & facebook & twitter have largely obsoleted forums anyway.

I did see some names at TBL of old hands from FR that I liked- thought about registering just to say hello. Then thought, “oh, Hell- another account to keep track of? I still haven't gotten around to a twitter sign-up. Shesh!”

KISS- keep it simple, stupid. For now I'll stick with FD & GCP.

For old times sake I went over to the Blogmocracy- oddly my login info was not stored in any of the older PC's, even the year 2000 Dell Optiplex that goes back to 2003- it was on this new netbook... guess it migrated with the files for Emily's Acer.

I found this handy graphic:

Saw a number of names from the old days but I really couldn't think of anything to contribute so back I came here.

-We get mail- from the dread local chapter of
( Cue spooky music... )
The Tea Party:

To those who still have a stake in the District 1 race for Board of Education, I ask that you support Ingrid Metz.  The good-old boys and girl who are happy with the status quo, enjoying their $11,000-$13,000 income plus cell-phone and travel perks are not looking after the educational welfare of our children.  They keep saying test scores are up, and they are right, except it they are the lower grade test scores, the state test scores, and NOT the test scores that really matter, like SAT and ACT which ARE DOWN! The teachers are totally bogged down with trying to prep students to take the batteries of tests, documenting every sneeze, gum-chewing and name-calling incident, and while maintaining order in classrooms in which they no longer have authority to discipline or punish.  In virtually every aspect, our world is upside down.  With your help maybe we can start getting it righted again.  VOTE FOR INGRID METZ! in the run-off election.

Please pass this email around and show your support for Ingrid.

That is an accurate assessment- the Good Old Boys currently on the board are worthless, addicted to their perks and spending Other People's Money. All need to go.

We'll get 'em one at a time.

Obumble woulda got scalped the first night out.

I'm not so sure. He would have claimed he was related and thus one of them. Next they would be breaking bread and telling tales around the fire. He would just make shit up on the fly and they'd believe every word. They would give up their finest horses as parting gifts.

The Kid & I trimmed that blasted oak some more. He's a funny guy- as long as I'm stirring around with garden tools he's very content. I worked outside the fence and he lies down in MaryAnn's flowerbed, watching & snoozing, like he always did with Emily.

When we got back in I fixed a sandwich and turned the AC back on- that was enough work in the heat to get soaked again- and looked at Lowe's website to see if they had a better limb lopper. Mine is showing its age. I've re-riveted the head several times and it's loose again. They have a compound one for under $40 and I just might get one- it would make this and other trimming easier to do.
