A question for the lefties who are boycotting Chick-Fil-A:

So, you're boycotting Chick-Fil-A because the owner of the franchising company is opposed to gay marriage. When are you going to stop buying gasoline because the owners of OPEC put gays to death?

And then you have the famous Citgo sign in view at Fenway Park over the Green Monster a couple blocks away beyond the Mass Pike near the Buckminster Hotel. There are entire websites devoted to that sign as a baseball institution by nuts in a city where Mayor Menino doesn't want further Chick-Fil-A expansion... except that Citgo, the oil company and gas bars are owned by the Venezuelan government under you guessed it, Hugo Chávez, a known enemy of the USA. I haven't heard of any boycotts of Citgo in Boston.

They might as well double down and change their name to Chick-Fel-O.

Alcohol DOES kill people. It is a poison and it damages your liver every time it has to metabolize it.

Fiscal COnservative the hypocrite said, "eel free to point out at which point during this discussion that I said I drink alcohol. I simply said that alcohol doesn't kill people, drunk drivers do, same goes for guns. In both cases, people are responsible for their actions."

------------------------------------------

His problem is that the fast food he criticizes does not intoxicate, cause carcinomas, and contribute to rape, murders, violent domestic disputes and car accidents that maim or kill like the alcohol he defends just because he consumes it.

So, I am waiting for him to criticze the guy who stole a loaf of bread to feed his children while ignoring the theft of millions of dollars from a bank robbery where innocent people were killed. :-k

Have at a few more shots of lefturd kool aid.

I tried to buy two mugs on the website but it was going to be $67 for shipping. :(

Water kills people as well. Its not the substance that kills its the amount and the fact that the person chooses to drink excessively. Everything causes damages, but it also is needed in the body. You have to have arsenic in your body, its dose, exposure duration (choice) which is the problem. (1) Its believed that the people who survived the black plague were actually protected afterward from another early 20th Century disease (AIDS) (2) due to the people who survived had a mutation not of the dead in the dark ages. BTW there are many studies that say moderate drinking helps people, better then not drinking at all.

No argument there. My point was simply that it is hypocritical to have a freak-out over people choosing to eat more sodium than is currently thought to be healthy if they, themselves, indulge in alcohol.

It is surprising to see conservatives/libertarians acting like they think they have the right to control what others eat or drink.

Connie,

I think the proper analogy to Chick-Fill-A is binge drinking rather than social drinking.

I agree that drinking 6 or 7 beers is probably equivalent to a meal at Chick-Fill-A. If you do that once or twice a year, it's probably not so bad.

My last time at Wendy's, I had chicken nuggets and fries. I almost vomited in the restaurant. I'm never going back.

Alcohol in ANY quantity destroys brain cells which is maybe what has happened to the poster bemoaning fast food. Great Lakes water is probably more harmful than the worst fast food anyone can buy.

I rarely consume fast food for obvious reasons but I would not say a salad is harmful to eat. Ditto for chicken, it is protein.

Both my grandfathers lived to be 96 and functioned normally until the last few weeks of their lives. One loved side bacon and maple syrup, the other ate and ate and ate.

The former was six foot tall and weighed 180 pounds. The latter was five foot ten and weighed the same.

Old Aunt Lizzy ate salt on everything and often consumed it by the teaspoon out of the shaker. They said it would kill her and they were right. She died last year at age 106.

Wow! Pictures don't lie! From on-line reports, I'm seeing literally dozens of almost entirely old white folk supporting a restaurant that would jail homosexuals. As a Liberal, I am feeling so scared right now! And remember, gay people, if you're ever confronted by Chickinistas, you may not be able to hide, but you sure can run, because I doubt any of these people can crack 3 MPH even with the aid of an atomic walker. Except the gal in the middle and lets face it I doubt she's good navigating sharp corners.

Yeah, how weird that in a country with a majority white population you'd see lots of white people!

All reports are that people came out in droves, to the disappointment of those like BCL who suffer from tunnel vision.

But, that won't stop the intolerant bullies. Here an MSNBC twit tells the bullies we need to step up our game and put pressure on anyone affiliated with Chick-Fil-A:

Is this "man" insane? CFA serves everyone. Where's his proof CFA wants to jail our Queer Brethren? Oh, he has none- just his own fever-swamp imaginings... what a clown.

WTH? I'll post this here, too...

I'm going to link to this rant ( Yeah, there's some cussing, and it is entirely appropriate- sometimes plain talk is best ) because it is a classic rant and I am in agreement with it:

The Chick-Fil-A controversy has nothing to do with the food it serves. The controversy is about the ghay bullies who insist that everyone must 'support your local queers' in every conceivable way. The Chick-Fil-A owners support organizations which do not enjoy the ghay bully seal of approval. Most people seem to feel that the ghay bullies should use their seals for more useful purposes.
The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.
