Teacher suspended for showing Magnotta case snuff video
MONTREAL - A barrage of outrage is raining down on a Grade 10 history teacher who showed his students the snuff video connected to the Luka Magnotta body-parts murder case.
The teacher was suspended with pay on June 4, hours after he played the online video titled 1 Lunatic, 1 Ice Pick, which shows a man being stabbed to death with an ice pick and cut into pieces.
And now, Montreal police are investigating the case.
Two students told QMI Agency the teacher at Cavelier-de-LaSalle high school asked students to put up their hands if they wanted to watch the grisly clip.
Everyone agreed, though many regretted their decision, said one girl.
"I was sick to my stomach, I wanted to throw up," she said.
"We didn't see the whole thing, but we saw most of it. It was rough."
She said the class was totally silent after the video ended. Several students complained to the principal's office, and the teacher was quickly suspended.
Police say the victim in the video is Chinese student Jun Lin and that the murder took place in Magnotta's Montreal apartment on May 24 or 25.
The video, currently being held as evidence in the case, also depicts cannibalistic and necrophilic acts being performed on Lin's body.
