UN condemns Canadian practices over rights violations
The Canadian Press

Date: Saturday Jun. 2, 2012 5:19 PM ET

The United Nations is taking Canada to task for security practices it says expose Canadians and others to torture and allow war criminals to escape international justice.

A new report by the UN Committee Against Torture accuses Ottawa of being "complicit" to human rights violation committed against three Arab-Canadian men held in Syria after 9-11.

Canadian officials also played a role in the ill-treatment of Omar Khadr at Guantanamo Bay, the report contends, criticizing government delays in approving the child soldier's request to serve out his sentence in Canada.

Yes, but I believe they are deliberately ludicrous and absurd. They are thumbing their nose in our face because they do not believe we can do a damn thing about it.

Canada Denounced For Alleged Human Rights Violations

June 4, 2012. 6:50 am • Section: Politics and the Nation, The Real Agenda
Having travelled throughout China for the last two weeks, my jaw dropped when I read the latest United Nations Committee Against Torture report condemning Canada’s human rights violations, in particular, the use of information obtained from countries where torture is routinely used.

This prompted me to visit Amnesty International’s website where I discovered that Canada is also harshly criticized for Quebec’s legislative response to the student protests in Montreal.

I don’t get it? If Canada learns through foreign intelligence that an Al Quaeda attack will take out the United States embassy in Ottawa, we should ignore that warning because the information was obtained through torture?

Similarly, what part of a democratically elected government taking steps to control chaos in the streets, with those arrested accessing a justice system that is one of the finest in the world, enhanced by the protection of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, can be legitimately denounced?.......................http://blogs.canada.com/2012/06/04/cana ... iolations/

The UN can go run out and play in the traffic - in Syria!
The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.

From Blazing Cat Fur

Luka Magnotta's Human Rights Court Challenges Preventing Exradition

Image

Canada is a veritable Human Rights Pariah State according to the U.N. offering Luka Magnotta numerous defenses to prevent his extradition.

1) Canada continues to refer to visible minorities, like Gay Cannibals, as visible minorities contrary to United Nations scoldings.

2) Canada discriminates against Transgender Gay Cannibals by not allowing them to alter their passports to reflect their true "gender identity".

3) Canada lets people go hungry according to the United Nations, thus preventing Gay Cannibals access to a secure food source.

Well said Julian:
These international thugs also realize that Canadians no longer have the capacity to elect a government with the courage to stand up to them at the United Nations or anywher on the international stage. The United nations are united. They are United against Democracy and they are well aware of Canada’s Trudoepian history of multi culturalism and immigration policies that have brought Canada's culture and political courage to it’s knees.

There will be riots in the streets and eventually a civil war in Canada if we continue on this path. My greatest fear is that it may too late.

The excuse used for the United Nations to include despots, dictatorships, theocracies and tyrants as members was that the free world needed to have a means to dialogue with nations not included in the free world. The theory was that free world nation could show the world the advantages of democracy and private enterprise. That was a colossal error - the inevitable result was the takeover of the UN by failed states who envy and hate free world freedoms, rights and standards of living.

The free world is spending trillions on aid to impoverished nations and the first priority of their spending is to fund a delegation to the UN where they can lobby for more aid and take sanctioned pot-shots at free world nations. We are financing the hijacking of the United Nations and UN sanctioned degradation by the world’s most odious tyrants. The UN is studiously seeking flaws in free world nations while ignoring human suffering in its representative nations. The farce has to stop.

We need a formation of democracies led by English speaking nations and their allies to replace the UN. Of the 195 independent nations listed by Freedom House, only 87 or 44.6% qualify as free democracies. The high point was in 2007 when 91 independent nations were considered free democracies.

The checklist for assessing a free democracy is found here. It is sobering to review the list and consider how much we take for granted in our day-to-day lives.
The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.

Tory MP wants Canada to reconsider UN membership

By Lee Berthiaume, Postmedia News June 6, 2012 6:01 PM

OTTAWA — A Conservative backbencher has demanded Canada reconsider its membership in the United Nations after the world body criticized the government for its treatment of alleged war criminals and changes to the refugee system.

Ontario MP Larry Miller, who stumbled into controversy in February after comparing the long-gun registry to Hitler and the Nazis, said he is also upset the UN deployed a special food rapporteur to Canada last month instead of to a developing country.

Tory MP wants Baird to consider yanking Canada out of UN

CAMPBELL CLARK

OTTAWA — The Globe and Mail

Published Wednesday, Jun. 06 2012, 1:22 PM EDT

Last updated Wednesday, Jun. 06 2012, 5:08 PM EDT
A Conservative backbencher wants Canada to be the first country in the world to leave the United Nations.

Larry Miller, the MP for Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound, says he’s upset the UN Committee Against Torture “voiced displeasure” with the Harper government’s refugee-reform bill, and sent a rapporteur on food security to Canada.

He doesn’t like the criticism from the UN and issued a statement saying he’s going to ask Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird to consider whether Canada should take its ball and go home.

“If this is the type of action that the UN will be taking, then I think it is high time that we review our participation in the United Nations,” Mr. Miller said in a statement.

It certainly would be an unprecedented way to respond to the proddings of some of the UN’s many bodies and their reports......................http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/pol ... cmpid=rss1

UN refugee agency launches Ottawa ad campaign

June 4, 2012. 1:48 pm • Section: Foreign Affairs and Defence, Social Policy and Environment
OTTAWA — Amid Conservative government efforts to change Canada’s refugee laws, the UN’s refugee agency has launched an advertising campaign in Ottawa to raise awareness about the life-and-death decisions facing potential asylum seekers.

Throughout the month of June, buses in the capital will carry the image of a family huddling on the floor of their home while a conflict rages outside.

The accompanying message asks commuters what they would do in such a situation: “Stay and risk your lives in the conflict? Flee and risk kidnap, rape, torture or worse?”

Furio De Angelis, the United Nations’ High Commission for Refugees representative in Canada, said the intention is for Canadians to take a moment to realize the dilemma facing those contemplating seeking asylum...................http://blogs.canada.com/2012/06/04/un-r ... -campaign/

Hpw about an image of several funerals where women have died after being infected with HIV by an immigrant who was admitted with this disease or another image of bodies of young girls and women being pulled from the water murdered because of a dishonor killing?

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said today that Canada has no intention of withdrawing from the United Nations, but will speak up when it has concerns about its actions.

Baird responded with a straightforward "no" when asked in question period by NDP foreign affairs critic Paul Dewar whether the Conservatives want to pull out of the UN.
