Gun banning liars

The most common argument I run into with lieberal wenches when discussing concealed carry, is that the assailant would usually be able to disarm the victim and use the victim's gun on him/her.

What a joke. Read what happened here.
I have never heard of anyone with concealed carry being disarmed of their firearm, EXCEPT police. :-k

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon.

Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. "There is blood all over.

One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms."

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness.

"A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."

By the time officers arrived the suspect had been subdued by employees and shoppers

Police had high praise for gun carrying man who ended the hysteria. Lt. Brian Purvis said, "This was a volatile situation that could have gotten worse. We can only assume from what we saw it could have gotten worse. He was definitely in the right place at the right time."

Dozens of other shoppers, who too could have become victims, are also thankful for the gun carrying man.

The guy with the gun was stupid. He should have just shot. A man with a knife at close range is a terrible threat.

I trend to agree, he had already attempted murder and was culpable.

Yeah when he's stabbing people, I think reasoning goes out the door. Just plant two in the center and one to the head if he's still standing. Saves the taxpayers the cost of prosecuting the idiot.

The suspect in the violent assaults is a Vietnamese national who witnesses said was yelling, "Why did you kill all my people?" The victims of the assault want to know why Kiet Ly tried killing them.

"I think it's going to take some time to understand to what extent this has affected me," said Keltin Barney, a victim of the stabbing.

Barney stopped on Thursday afternoon at the store to buy a lock to go on a storage unit. He never got a chance to make that purchase and the others that were on his list.

It was a chaotic scene Thursday afternoon when police say Kiet Thanh Ly began randomly picking targets in the parking lot of a Smith's Marketplace located at 455 S. 500 East. As for Barney, he was headed out of Smith's back to his car — he'd forgotten his shopping list.

Search the 21 foot rule, the knife generally wins inside that range. Massad Ayoob, long time personal defence trainer, did a write up years ago about a court case in the US where a person was charged for shooting an knife weilding attacker that was charging him. A lot of study went into the case and the lethality of a knife at short range was the core of the defence. I don;t remember the particulars but it should be easy to find on the web.

Yes the 21 foot rule is well known. That relates to pulling your pistol, aiming and shooting. It sounds like this guy had the drop on him, but he was still stupid to engage him in conversation. Better to take him out without giving him a chance to either charge or retreat, thereby endangering more people.
