How progressive, we should do that here.

Yeah, I always knew you were a national socialist but thought that you were not good enough to be a nazi. This page is right oit of adolphs preliminary move to ban guns, so I see you are in favor of a dictatorship. Maybe next time though they will eliminate liberals...I would not lift a finger to stop that act which would make the world a safer and better place.

The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.

Other than the insane start up cost ... the registry was useful and effective. Hence the reason the cops used it so frequently.

It was used as a political wedge issue.

The Germans wont have that problem.

Effective? It was never proven to have prevented one single crime.

Some even said it made policing more dangerous because it gave police a false sense of security if police entered a residence. After all, only half of all long guns were ever registered, usually by the most law abiding citizens.

Some police detachments were set up so that any police search of an individual would automatically reveal if he was a gun owner and what rifle he owned. A driver gets pulled over for not wearing a seat belt, and an officer needs to know if he owns a shotgun? This is how the registry was refered to so often, not out of need at all. :^o

For the $250 that it cost to register every long gun, would it have been better served to hire a few more judges and remove some backlogs in our criminal justice system?

How many lives could have been saved by spending these wasted billions on health care or improving our roads?

as one person posted on a gun forumI frequent, "is it too soon to post a list of our unregistered guns?" Even the hard left seals know that the registry was useless, they just parrot the talking points like a telemarketer sings slogans. It's actually a decent credibility/sincerity test for lefties, to see if they put any thought into their positions

Thier database will be a little cheaper -- it uses FoxPro and runs on an old 386 SX in a sub- sub- basement of the Reichstag. Next to the last remaining POTS plug-in, so the cops can access it through its 9600 baud modem.

If that were Canada it would only have been $100M then for the system.
