I'd like to be there, but I don't have a functioning pass port.

It would have to be a very short visit anyway, due to my health.

Can't stray too far from the hospital, etc.

:?

I'll BE THERE in spirit, don't you worry.....!!!

The accommodations look exceptional with very reasonable rates.

Keep it in mind. The place is meticulously spotless and filled with antique trinkets with beautiful gardens and barbecues. The staff are outstanding and remember regulars by name. Dining and Sobey's can be walked to. I've gone down and stayed just for the drive and a break. I'm sure I can get a deal on the rates.

Anyone interested there's plenty of time in mull it over.

Hmmm...sounds like a great excuse to get on the Road King and make some miles.

The last FD gathering in Edmonton was awesome! It would be very cool to meet up with some of you again.

You can count me in if it's a weekend gig.

Here's something to consider driving to the meeting if you have a hankering for Three Wheel Drive and a Turbo Diesel....

Norwegian EMS pilot lacks clearance to "put 'er down" on the road owing to the rock wall so he improvises. I want THIS GUY flying me to Florida for spring baseball.

Ka Ching!

So I'm sitting in the lunch room at job 2 today on my break and gal pal (I'm quite fond of actually) from elsewhere in the store yapping up a storm as always goes silent before asking my advice. She's a bit confused by a scratch and win lottery ticket she's been dicking around with. I review. We both review. We both review again. I ask if we're taking her car or mine to the airport.

Try a $100,000 winner right there and then. I indicated my verification fee is 5%. :hurray:

Believe it or not, aside from routine annual US adventures my target in the crosshairs is Iceland and possibly Norway. Most members of my father's side of the family have made the trek to my grandfather's native Norway. I have yet to do so but Iceland is my preference at this time. We'll see how the next year goes financially. Iceland is not the most convenient place to get to. Believe it or not I'm also looking at the Falkland Islands. These two locations have always fascinated me. Both very remote and with sudden harsh weather potential. Proof I'm off my rocker.

The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.

Thank you WV. I have many sites bookmarked on the MacBook but that is a new one and very informative.

I could come to this FD gathering if Im not at site when it happens. The more time goes, the least likely I am to go back east so I might as well visit my new homeland and meet some of the people Ive been speaking with for years without ever metting face to face.:D

Also, speaking of Scandinavia Im interested in going to Sweden myself. Is theyre any way to get to the old continent for less than a grand.. AirCanada certainly isnt giving away those tickets.

Good show Jean. I hope things fall into place. When we camped and barbecued 3 years ago we had over 20 people just outside Red Neck Deer for the weekend. I'm thinking my recommended location this time might bring some people from outside Alberta to sample the fare in the Rockies and Badlands.

As for you I suspect Alberta will get under your skin and I see you staying. You probably know by now there's a fair number of French speaking communities to the north of Edmonton such as Legal, Morinville, Villeneuve, even St. Albert. There's also a pocket south of Ft. Mac in the St. Paul - Cold Lake - Bonnyville area near the Saskatchewan border. You'll find a "fit" and a place of comfort to call home.

I've never heard French spoken here in town but Espanol and Tagalog is quite common in markets and shops, Mexicans and Filipinos by far being the largest immigrant groups.
