It does not matter what you are, long as you are not a kool aid drinking lieberal. That makes people less than useless, in fact, they become a danger, a liability to all that is good.

Sometime I will tell you what my racial make up is. :-k

"Liberal" used to mean that you were broad-minded... now it means your mind is so open that your brains fall out.

I'd guess from looking at those young & older pictures of yourself that you have a taint of bad blood- like I do.

Mongrels really do make the best old dogs-- I've had high-bred dogs and they all had problems they inherited from their high-class ancestors.

My Dad was a throwback- all the men in his family were well over six feet tall- he was the short one, five and a half feet tall and broad as a barn door- that Dutch heritage.

My Mom? Tall & slender- mostly German, except her Dad was Welch. She never did explain how that touch of Injun got into her side of the family.

I'd guess one of the women in her family had a liking for, Ahem!, "different" men- but when she lay dying I saw the truth of her words to me long ago... "we have a little Indian on my side of the family..."

Sharp, high cheekbones.
Broad, flat forehead. Like a Mongol... or a mongrel.

They really do make the best old dogs.

For whatever my words are worth to you?

The mid eighties. The Reagan years. Man was my life on fire then. Life couldn't get better. I had a fabulous job; flew all over the place on expense; motorcycled all over America; owned a fabulous condo and my father was still alive.

We can all look back with longing on what was and can never be again. We age, we move on, we learn to live with our infirmities, but to be truly happy we need to look at what we can do in fighting all that is destroying the well being of society...that is the singe most temporal item we should embrace as the single most essential element of our existence.

The problems are all MORAL problems and the enemy is the most immoral and evil entity that ever existed..LIEBERALISM, LEFTISM, SOCIALISM.

It enables bigotry, in all it's ugly forms...hrc's, bilingualism, aborticide, perversion, ecowhackism, etc etc

Yeah, back then I was young & strong & rich & connected. Did some work for Ronnie down in Central America.
Had thunder in my hands. Miss Helen was dead and Miss Emily hadn't entered the picture.

Miami Vice was a little overblown- but not a bad snapshot of the times.

But on a lighter note?

Cole got to chase The Evil Curbmaster again ( Stop! Thief! Come back with my garbage! ) and:

Pansies & Kale

With nothing pressing on my list I stirred around in the yard with Cole, looking things over- finally decided to get some of those wildflowers in Sammy's spare yard. They have a stalk that looks onion-like and white flowers with a bright yellow center. MaryAnn thought the one I gave her earlier was gorgeous.

However, much to my surprise my 8” Ames tool would not reach the bulb so I settled for cutting one and putting it in water.

Since I needed smokes I figured to combine that trip with seeing what Home Depot had in the way of flowers to plant and headed there. For some reason all they had were annuals and I'm pretty sure perennials would be better, but I got a pansy and a flowering kale.

Back home, Emily's lovingly-cared-for planters along the border are a wreck- I haven't done a thing with them since she died. One of those little things I could strangle her for was encouraging Cole to play “chicken” with all her yard tools- she thought it was “cute.” Soon as I started the weed-eater he started diving at it and ignoring my “no”- so I thwacked him lightly with the handle, he let out a yelp, and started paying attention to me again. Good dog...

Planted the two plants while singing The Ozark Mountain Daredevil's “Long-haired country boy...”

Preacher man talking on T.V.
Puttin down the rock and roll
Wants me to send a donation
Cause he's worried about my soul
He said Jesus walked on the water
And I know that its true
But some times I think that preacherman
Would like to do a little walking too

But I ain't asking nobody for nothin
If I can't get it on my own
If you don't like the way I'm livin
You just leave this long haired country boy alone

And Don Cramer just called- he wanted my OK to take an architect out to Haase Farm Service to look at the plants & take pictures- which for $200-$500 a plant I was glad to give...
I never heard from Robert so I guess that's an OK on his part. We'll see.

Just FYI and FWIW?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/ ... page=29#29

In other news Miss MaryAnn "liked" my facebook reply to her-- "I will bring you flowers as long as you want them & I can find them..."

Now I just have to find some...

And for whatever else it means?

I put a notice up on Emily's facebook page-

"I'm going to let this go fallow- you know where to reach me..."

Gone to seed. Flown to the Sun. Gone, forever, to the Sea.

Goodbye, My Love, maybe gone forever. Goodbye My Love, the Stars wait for me
Who knows when we shall meet again?
If ever...
Time...
Keeps flowin' like a river
On & on
to the Sea...

Starting to watch Cocoa Beach weather. I hate to tell you this but your region is looking at a high of +8c on Friday and a low of +2c. (46F and 35F) Position those heaters.

That means it will be snowing inside the house.

I'd be obliged if you'd drop-ship a sled, some Huskies, and a parka my way.

Edit: Does that mean I ought to wrap the pansy & kale I just planted? I don't know a bloody thing about flowers, but I remember Emily scrambling to wrap all her outdoor plants every time it got near freezing... tarnation!

Yes. Common here with early gardeners and late season tomatoes still on the vines. The rule of thumb is no flowers until May long weekend but when you get a nice run of weather people are out there getting the jump. It usually means a few old sheets out with a snap frost - a killer for delicate vegetation, hence burning drums in the orange groves when frost threatens in parts of Florida every few years. That happens in vineyards in grape regions of the world as well when frost is likely.

Obviously I picked a poor time to donate all the spare sheets around here to Goodwill... but I'll find something in this old pile.

I guess I'd better enjoy the sleeveless weather while I can.

On my To Do list? See if I can find a double-barreled shotgun to make into a coach gun for MaryAnn.

Since Don Cramer is showing the ornamentals at HFS I need to get a spare pair of jeans and keep the ones I'm wearing- my oldest pair- for work in case he needs me to operate his tree spade. Never done that before but it can't be any more complicated than running a backhoe...
( Yes, it's a coincidence, but my screen name came about because I was welding brackets on mine at the time... )
