Thank you, Styky; that is a moving prayer.

We have just heard that Aunt Ethelyn, who turned 101 on September 23, is now slipping away; Hospice is at her nursing home and in accordance with her Living Will, no heroic measures will be taken, only palliative care to keep her comfortable.

And race driver Dan Wheldon was killed at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in an IRL, er, open wheel race car.

It has not been a good week and it is only one day old.

It is a difficulty we all face as we age - family members and friends cast off their anchor lines and slip away from us, due to age or illness, which is not helped by accidents that take away family and friends suddenly and unexpectedly and too soon. May the Lord look afer you Kate, and ease your pain in difficult times.
The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.

We are waiting news on Auntie, as her son reported that she is not eating her meals, but is in fact raiding what he calls *the goodie basket* and eating junk food! Auntie has always been a drama queen, from birth, and at one time the family rushed to her bedside from all over the country to discover she was faking the whole thing. So right now the eldest daughter is going to visit the nursing home today and will report on the true situation.

Meanwhile the rest of us attmpt to carry on as if we are in our right minds.

My condolences, Kate... May God bless you all

I have a funeral of good friend tonight, she was only 43. The bible says we are like a vapor, here today gone tomorrow... off to eternity.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 12:13-21.
Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me."
He replied to him, "Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?"
Then he said to the crowd, "Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one's life does not consist of possessions."
Then he told them a parable. "There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.
He asked himself, 'What shall I do, for I do not have space to store my harvest?'
And he said, 'This is what I shall do: I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones. There I shall store all my grain and other goods
and I shall say to myself, "Now as for you, you have so many good things stored up for many years, rest, eat, drink, be merry!"
But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?'
Thus will it be for the one who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich in what matters to God."

I found out last night that Mama fell in the airport on a moving sidewalk(why she was ON a moving sidewalk is a long story that I will not go into) and had to be rushed to emergency; thankfully she is all right save for an injured elbow, but missed the funeral and will be heading over home today. Please add her to your prayers. God alone knows what else is going to happen before this story ends. And yes, she has a lawyer -- Auntie has two kids in the profession and one of them is already on top of it.
