OTTAWA - The Conservative Party of Canada isn’t denying reports top party officials recently received a delegation from the Communist Party of China in Ottawa – but they aren’t talking about it either.

Repeated calls to Conservative Party president John Walsh and party spokesman Fred DeLorey have gone unanswered since Monday.

The Tories have also clammed up over a congratulatory letter the party sent to the Communist Party on its 90th anniversary.

DeLorey said Monday the party would not comment on the letter.

Chinese media reported that Walsh sent a letter to the Communists Party on July 1 that read, in part, that the Tories “appreciate the Chinese Communist

Party” and would “look forward to further relations between the two parties.”

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, when asked Monday whether he was comfortable with Conservative Party executive director Dan Hilton reportedly meeting with Communist Party members, refused to comment.

“Dan Hilton did so you’ll have to ask him,” Baird said.

Baird is currently in China promoting trade relations between the two countries.

I am not a Baird fan but I cannot fault his response here.

I don't care if they receive a top delegation, as long as they tell them their country sucks.

With all his bowing down and kneeling before the Chicoms, Baird seems to be autioning for the role of Chicom satrap governor of Canada. He seems to be doing a good job shining Chcom shoes with his tongue and hairplugs.

Too busy in China promoting trade with communists to comment on hosting communists here. What a country.

What troubles me is the obvious!
Even here; on a conservative forum like Free Dominion this post gets a nod from the members. Only five responses to this post. I can not get my head around why Canadians are so determined to go down this path to socialism and cow-tow to communists. Not only our elected parliamentarians but provincial legislators and civic aldermen and mayors all seem to be on the same track. And they have no trouble getting elected.

My Father in law, who had a great influence on my life said in 1972 “mark my words their will come a day in your lifetime that there will be race riots and political fights in the streets of every Canadian city.” Of course we all know who was elected Prime Minister of Canada in 1972. He reiterated that same statement again in 1982 when that same communist Prime Minister of Canada enacted our so called “charter of rights” which; as we all know could be called and should be called the charter to take rights from citizens and give them to those Canadians who are politically connected, socialist elites and /or university professors. Guess I answered my own question here didn’t I.

He did say that it would not happen in his lifetime and he was right but I do fear that as Canadians we are forsaking everything he, my own father and my uncles fought and died for in the 1940’s. Not to mention the sacrifices of my generation who served during the so called “cold war” believing we were protecting what our country and fellow Canadians stood for. FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY!

Sorry I don't get it. Were they giving their approval to communism or meeting with them on issues that affect our two countries.

After all we buy tens of billions worth of Chinese goods every year. So stop buying all Chinese goods if you want to do something about it, but this article doesn't suggest anything more than bad political optics, and all that PC stuff doesn't interest me in the least.

I have been boycotting anything and everything made in China for over fifteen years. Really! I read the labels of everything and if it says “made in china” I don’t buy it. My dear wife bought me some picture frames at “The Great Canadian Super Store” yesterday. I took them back because they were (you guessed it) Made in China. I gave up shopping at wall mart long ago. I only wish my government and fellow Canadians felt as strong about Canada as I do.

:hurray:

I have thought about it. But here is the rub. Are not Honda vehicles now manufactured in China? So, does that mean, don't buy Honda. Does anyone have some good information on this?
