OK fellow FD posters, I realize HTML coding is not popular, but you are posting too many long reference URLs. When you do so, you break the right margin of the thread you post to, making reders have to scroll left to right to read you post and replies.

To post a lont URL reference, tupe as follows:

<a href=(Insert URL here)>SOURCE</a>

What will show up in the post is SOURCE in blue letters that are linked to the URL you imbedded. Yeah, that is what the process is called - imbedding a URL.

You can get fancy and code:

<a href=(paste URL here)>CLICK HERE</a>

which will show CLICK HERE in bold blue with the embedded link.

Have some fun with it and with other tips on this thread. You will be posting like old pros in no time.

How do I change my profile so other members can see my post total and view my past posts?

To make the changes you want

1- hit profile
2-hit profile between home and registering
3-hit preferences

this should bring you to a screen that asks you what you want displayed.

If you are going to include a quote from a previous post in a reply, please use the "quote" button at the top of the post you are quoting from. If you do not want to include all of the original post, edit that parts you do not want to incude.

If you 'copy and past' from a post on the thread and only use the 'quote' facility, you get this:

[quote] Paste paragraph(s) [/quote]

That leaves it unclear as to who you are responding to.

The proper bb coding is

[quote="insert name"] paste paragraphs [/quote] The quotation marks are required.

That will identify the member you are replying to and make the thread easier for others to follow.

There is one exception.

When someone has posted an article from a magazine or newscast or similar, and you wish to post a reply quoting from the article, please make sure you cite the article author and not the poster.
