Canadian Sources for Gold and Silver

Postby Thistle, Shamrock, Rose E » 12/ 29/ 11 7:51 pm

Until recently, I had purchased silver at local coin stores. Obviously, they charged a markup (plus and additional charge for using a credit card). Today, I called around and was, basically, told that there would be a 30% markup on any purchase of silver bullion. This, apparently, was due to the fact that, although the price of silver had dropped, the actual purchase price would not go down for nearly two weeks.

I have seen commercials for companies that allow people to purchase gold or silver directly, sometimes with as low as a 1% markup. These commercials, however, were on Fox News and other American stations. I would imagine that any savings made from the purchase would be lost on shipping and duties. Is anybody aware of a trustworthy, reliable website from which to purchase precious metals. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would no buy precious metals anywhere but at banks. Had a scammer from USA call me and quoted me a $600. cost for buying 500 ounces of silver from him...local bank charge was on top of the silver cost, $28.00

I actually asked at my own bank today, and they no longer sell prescious metals. Is one able to purchase metals from a bank with which he does not have an account?

I do not see why not, although I have a few $$$ in my bank and my son uses the joint account we have to pay any purchases he wants under my cover.

Try walking into a few and ask if they have any in their safe and you would like to buy some with cash or credit card.
