Happy Section 13 Day!!

Postby Connie Fournier » 07/ 18/ 12 6:19 am

It was five years ago tonight (around 8pm) when my parents walked in from the mailbox and handed me an envelope addressed to me. It was a letter from the CHRC about a Section 13 complaint by Marie Line Gentes.

At this time five years ago Mark and I had no way of knowing that our lives were about to be turned upside-down, and that five years later we would still be embroiled in related lawsuits.

But, we can all rejoice in the fact that Section 13 is now as good as dead, and we've made some good case law along they way.

Happy Section 13 Day, everyone! :hurray:

I had a wonderful beef curry last night. I'll celebrate the anniversary by artistically reconstructing the contents of the average Section 13 filing, by dropping a pound in my toilet later this morning. Then flushing the accurate reproduction into it's deserved fate of a sewer pipe ride.

Well, that's a LITTLE too much information, but it sounds like an appropriate way to celebrate.

29 June 2012 Conservative (?) Senator Nancy Ruth - Ontario - Cluny (Martin appointee) moved adjournment of debate on Bill C-304 at second reading. This is not good news. We may have to start a campaign to educate Senators.
The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.
