I would rather camp when it is cool/cold (albeit dry....had my fill of camping in the rain and snow) than if it is hot at night.

Get the campfire going, and have a confab with the bears and deers. :D

I'm spraying myself with an emptied and cleaned Armor-All bottle in front of a fan. As glorious as the divorce was, I suddenly miss that air conditioned house. I'm wondering if the hot tub here, meaning ANY submerged water situation in the breeze and shade outside would be a better option than sitting inside in this sauna at this time.

My patio is cement in a sheltered spot out of the wind and in full sun half the day. At one point the thermometer I have on the Garage window said 42C

I was in the house with my central air cranked baking pies. :D

Unliveable in this house. I've been waiting for it to get dark and it's nearly there at 10:30 pm. I may go out and sit in the tub on the patio. I figure ANY water in the evening air has to be better than in here. In an ideal world, the gal from the liquor store around the corner would magically appear for a dip. :D

I have to wonder about fire conditions after a few days of this. The storm activity with lightening strikes and tornados by the end of the week will be epic.

Hubbie pointed out to me a crack in the back yard by the lilac trees that has gone from a sliver to a couple inches wide and the length of the tree line. We need some rain that's all there is to it.

I'm looking after the neighbour's English Garden of a yard while she's away for a week and intend to water at night. The sprinkler systems come on at 4 am but I do the flowers, fruit and vegetables in both yards in the evening after dark. I don't work until Wednesday and was going to wash the car today but simply didn't want to be outside mid-day. To be honest, the car is not the most logical use of water right now either. I'll wait on that while growing food is more important. The neighbour feeds me plenty. Her gardens are sort of in my best interest as well.

Another scorcher on the way. I slept in a hammock outside on the patio and stepped into the hot tub upon awaking. A person could start a new day in worse fashion. Still, I've got a fan aimed at me already inside. It's as though the house lost no heat whatsoever.

Before air conditioning became common sleeping porches were a feature of the houses down here- screened and on the highest floor of the house. This place had one until they walled it up back around WWII.

When The Kid poked me up this morning it had cooled enough to shut down the AC and change over to fans. Quite aside from power consumption I hate being shut up in one room with all the doors & windows closed.

AC in the office in downtown Deadmuntun was not operating properly yesterday. I heard this was also a problem with several other office buildings. Rolling blackouts didnt help.

R2D2 AC unit in my room keeps the air above my bed cold enough for a polar bear to get his rest. 5000 BTU barely does it.

As for public transit on these hots days.......let the heatwave pass O Lord......then we look forward along with RedDog and company to the heavenly fireworks when this stuff moves on.....KABOOOOM KRACCCCCCK RUMBBBBBBBLLLLLLE

Lightning and thunder, bless the Lord!

Back to my morning Slurpee as the office ac appears to be behaving......for now

Geez! Looks like conditions we have here sometimes:

The heat broke enough to switch over to fans overnight but I'm holding out for a seventies-level early morning to mow Sammy's extra yard.

Despite heavy blinds and the AC unit, flashes of lightning lit up the room and thunder rumbled mightily, as I awoke to empty the AC reservoir. I figured it must have been a heavy duty downpour but not the degree that in reality in turned out to be. Floodings, standing water everywhere, leaves and broken limbs scattered hither and yon. City crews are pumping water out of construction sites downtown.

I can imagine if this storm hit a few hours later in time for the morning rush. I would not mind a day off because of having to paddle to work.................. :D So I somewhat wish it would have hit later, just so one could watch the storm in its glorious fury.

I see they changed the photo. I know that location - 111 and Whitemud Freeway. That structure in the background is Harry Ainley, the largest high school in Alberta. I used to own a house about eight blocks south of there on 108 in the married, sexless years.

Sure seems to be a lot of discussion about mattress mambo-ing today on FD. :D

Must be the weather? :) Well, as the song says "Some like it hot.....feel the heat, pushing you to decide.."

I will stick to ice cream, iced tea, and lemonade, as beer will bring on that sleep which is a consummation devoutly to be wished. :D

Too tired, too old, too unmarried and too moral for any of the :brows: :brows: :brows: :brows:

At least it has cooled off a bit out there..........
