If I had to pick one guy who I think is responsible for the Oilers getting to the final instead of bowing out in the first round, it would be Chris Pronger. When he's on with his defence partner Jason Smith, a wall goes up. The reason Anaheim went zero for a thousand on the power play is because of solid defensive play. Even during the six-on-three, the Oilers were doing such a good job of closing up the shooting lanes they had no shot.

Of course, you really can't pick one guy; there were a lot of key players elevating their game and elevating the whole team. Peca, Roloson, Pisani, Hemsley, and Horcoff to name a few. They went out and got the key peices they were missing and it made all the difference.

I've been an Oiler fan since the mid-70s so I'm REALLY enjoying watching all the people in Ontario, who feel compelled to cheer for a Canadian team, have to cheer for my Oilers. :D

And to make things sweeter, before the first round, I picked Edmonton to win the Cup in our family hockey pool. :smoke:

Screw that!

Go Carolina.

I hate the Oilers even more than ever.

There is no way that any sane person would have picked Edmonton to make it this far. They're a flukey team at best. I hope they lose in 4.

Let's take stock of the regular season shall we:

Edmonton - Detroit: Edmonton 2, Detroit 2 (3 of the 4 went to OT)

Edmonton - San Jose: Edmonton 3, San Jose 1

Edmonton - Anaheim: Edmonton 4, Anahiem 0

I count that 9-3 in favour of the Oil during the regular season.

Anyone still watching this farce of a game.

Penalty after penalty. I guess the Oilers are trying to make sure there will be no one celebrating in down town Edmonton tonight.

2 - 0

It's getting difficult to watch. If Edmonton pulls it off at this point, I'd be (ecstatically) surprised.
