Interesting. Hangnail has a dinner.

"What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?"

But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

Your comment makes no sense, especially in light of the previous comments on the thread.

It makes perfect sense if you consider that a dinner with Hangnail is no big deal in the wide world.

Most ridings have at least one dinner per year ........ so ???

Hiti, what about Keith Martin - who is both a Sikh, and probably a "DoRC".

By the way, if you define DoRC as everybody who supported Harper, and not Day in the leadership race, then over 60% of Alliance members are.

As for your comments about the usurping of a democratically elected leader - the Alliance is a party that supports notions like recall. And it is not really usurping anything when a democratically elected leader is removed by a democratic election. Besides, I think it is safe to say that the majority of people supporting the Alliance felt that way at the time. Certainly the 64% of Alliance voters that decided they didn't like Stockwell Day in the polls felt that way.

So after you are wrong on Hangers support in the Sikh community, wrong on the notice of the meeting, and wrong on Sikh interest in the Alliance, it is now not a big deal?

HA!

Suck it up and admit it when you are wrong! You will get far more respect that way.

Wrong about what?

First you would have to tell us the percentage of Sikh voters in Hangnails riding. And the length of time, plus proof that the meeting calling for nominations was done.

I really don't care about your Hangnail and those that he has sucked into supporting him.

We'll talk after the next vote is counted. The last vote was increased because of Stock.

Ironic comment coming from Hiti after posting many times about PCP fundraisers held all over the place.

Alberta is prosperous, the population is growing and the government is debt-free. I have no doubt that Liberals, NDPers, Red Tories, Kyoto Treaty bureaucrats, and other provinces will try to make Alberta into Canada's ATM machine.

Take it easy on Hiti. I've never defended Hiti before but this will be the first time. This party can never repeat the mistakes that the DRC and Stockwell Day made. I never fooled myself into believing that either side was free of culpability from the debacle.

And I'm telling you if anyone so much as hints at doing the DRC way of doing things ever again I will make it my personal mission to unseat that MP even if he is a Conservative. The dissidents could have used provisions in the party constitution that allowed for a referendum on the leadership of the party leader by members initiation. This would require a certain percentage of the membership to sign a petition. But they never even tried.

Harper was no idiot. He knew that the dissidents could never be fully trusted when they returned to the fold. That's why Strawl tried to run against him. Harper understood what really motivated members of the DRC. It wasn't anything against Day: They were populists. So long as the party and leader were popular in their riding they would return to the fold. Which is exactly what happened.

I wouldn't trust Hanger, or any former member of the DRC if I my life depended on it.
