Cold water does not boil faster than hot water.
When do I get the cheque?

You're right Julian. I always thought this was BS and I learned it in school in the sixties. One cold night about 25 years ago I put the lie to the test (no computer models). I took two identical containers that held about a litre and a half and filled one with cold water out of the tap and the other with just boiled water from the kettle and set them outside side by side where it was about -30C. Within minutes a skim of ice formed on the one with cold water and it took a lot longer for that to happen with the hot water.
How these myths get started and spread by people who should know better is astounding.
