There's no such thing as sustainable development. Everything we do makes use of the air, water and land and that will have an effect. A much worse scenario would be where we have to grow everything we eat ourselves and cut down every tree to heat our homes in this unforgiving climate we live in.
Slightly more pollution and much prosperity is far better than slightly less pollution and poverty from sea to sea. None of these hypocrites in the article would ever walk the talk and they should be publically ridiculed for it if the media had the balls.

We have a Canadian journalist/photographer working for an American University (Yale) writing in a British newspaper and claiming to be an expert. What makes these people think that governments can ignore a logical and rational balance of our economic and environmental interests and allow unelected environmentalists to rule us?
The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.
