Taking A Break!

Postby bulldog905 » 06/ 15/ 09 5:58 pm

I'm out of here for 2 months, as far as any comments on the public board.

Then, I will make a final decision.

If such a simple thing, as revaluating my past opinons on homosexuality , is going to draw such controversy and bitterness, I'd rather not contribute to this.

I don't leave on hard terms-far from it-but, I can't deal with the uncivility(on both parts) anymore. I'm not a 'nice guy' when I get personally attacked-I respond in kind.

I hope Little Harbour comes back, and FD triumphs in it's legal proceedings.

I'd like to again credit Connie and Mark with being two of the most courageous and princicpled people in Canada.

And salute a heck of a lot of other folks with being some one the most insightful and intelligent people in political cyberspace.

My account hasn't been 'hacked'.

Feel free to PM me-off the public forum, if you want to say anything.

Let's not kick bulldog on this thread.

I am genuinely concerned about you, BD, and I was serious about wondering if your account had been hijacked.

If you need a break, take it. But, come back when you feel better. You have a long history with FD and we don't want to see you leave for good.

I know Bulldog claims his account hasn't been hijacked but I'm not convinced. I hope someone can check it out.

Connie you are forever the reasonable headed Stateswoman. I think others should take a page out of Connie's book and do likewise.

Bulldog, there was never any good reason for LH to pick up his ball and go home, even if you had announced that you were full-time worshipping Antichrist naked in your front yard, the rest of us need to get on with our lives and take your stated opinions as nothing more or nothing less. It's freedom of speech, and sure this is a conservative forum, we could expect a balance in one direction rather than another on some issues, but over time views do change, and so I hope you don't feel you have broken some unwritten forum rule with your comments on that issue. I mean, it's a difficult issue for all conservatives, on the one hand, we are all about personal freedom and liberty (which would tend to argue live and let live on this issue) but on the other hand we are for a morally based society (in most cases) and many of us see the word of God as the foundation for that moral basis of society, so that tends to argue in the other direction. But I accept that it is not a slam dunk issue like some others would be.

So, I have to admit, I have not followed the rest of the discussion between you and other members that closely, but like I say, it is what it is and at the end of the day, freedom of speech means what it says, the freedom to say what one thinks (within the rules of this forum in this place).

The best solution would be for LH to just come on back here and let bygones be bygones, I'm not sure what the real motivation was there, because if you believe in your principles, then you're not asking for a show of hands to see who agrees and who doesn't. I know that it would surprise me and perhaps cause some searching thought if I read on here that everyone else now accepted global warming as real, but at the same time, I would not storm out of here in a big huff and throw my toys out of the pram, I would just wonder how they got to everyone so easily.

Yes Peter, maybe you should see what he said on the Letterman thread.

Well I shall have a look, I had exhausted my interest in Letterman after reading the Free Republic thread and commenting there. I worry about Letterman, he used to be funny about half a lifetime ago.

I won't storm back in here whatever I find, like I've said before, we conservatives need to stick together, accept a range of opinions and try to do some good in the world despite the strength of the other side. Everything else is just white noise to me.

I have also considered taking a break from this board and also inquired about changing my login id.

This board can be rough sometimes and it is not who is responding to you, but who is watching your posts and attempting to establish your personal identity.

A few months ago that occurred and the attacks since then have be unrentless. However, I stuck with my gut instincts to stay as I am and continue tp post.

I humbly suggest that while anyone has the right to decide to take a sabbatical or to leave, take a couple of days to cool down to re-think any decision.

When I see that there is a post by Bulldog I make a point of reading it. I like to know what he is thinking. He's a bright star here.

Bulldog, I hope you come back sooner rather than later. In any case, I understand.
