Well I won't be dealing in porn but the other things sound pretty reasonable. Jerky, fruit drink crystals, footwarmers, all sound good. I donated for extra kit not long ago but I don't think we can venture into that realm and keep it simple. Although maybe there is an opportunity there as well. Are most of the guys already pretty much equipped with the non issue add ons?

To be honest, most of the stuff that gets sent to the troops in Afghanistan or Camp Mirage gets wasted, unless it's a really covetted item. Here's a list of what they guys really want/use:

Crystal Light, or any of those fruit drink crystals that come in individual packets. (It's got to be the individual packets. Forget about the tins or cans. They're too bulky.) These packets are great, because you can stuff dozens in your pocket. They make drinking water enjoyable.

Disposable foot warmers, the exothermic chemical kind.

Porno mags (Juggs, Hustler, Penthouse, even Maxim)

That's about it. I mean that in all seriousness.

Great suggestions. As for the Porno Mags........my son told me he reads Maxim for the articles.....you mean he doesn't

While I've been in the Navy, it would behoove folks to find out what a given person's COMMANDER thinks about such activities.


We are, after all, in the midst of several oppressive former regimes which may NOT set very well with the local clientele of our "help".

The Crystal Light is a life saver in the summer. I've been told the water gets up to 50 C, and is unpalatable at that temp. without flavour.

What else do you guys want? What do you miss that we could send to you?
