FR appears to be down today and I'm in withdrawal < |:(~

Consider this a "home away from home" for our friends from Free Republic. If you want to post something of interest to Canadians AND Americans, or you just want to say "Hi!", this is the place!

It's tough being without real news. All I see in the MSM is non-stop "Obama's going to save the universe" junk all over the place.

I know, I'm tired of it but I think the shine could be wearing off a little or will soon when he has to "walk the walk." BTW, nice kitty you have there, mine is my old avatar from 2004 so some might remember me. She is Muffin, born 1987, died 2004, was my aunt's cat until she was on her deathbed and asked us to take her in 1995. She was a Burmese. In 2002, she was diagnosed with kidney failure but we kept her alive for 2 and a half years. I lost another black cat, Pixie, last month, she was 16. Muffin was almost 17 when she passed on.

Sorry to hear about Muffin... my 4 cats send their condolences! I'll bet you've given all your kitties good lives though, what else can anyone ask for?

Some more bad news, I lost 5 cats in 3 years, most were older though. We lost Greystone in April of 2006, he was only 5, kidney failure. We still have his mother, Spunky, and brother, G.W. "Dubya," and sister, Whitey. We lost Pansy in August of 2006, she was 19, a diluted calico, she had lymphoma. Buddha, Boo, we lost in August of 2007, he was 17 and a month later, Corky, she was 18 and last month, we lost Pixie at 16. In 2007, we did get a new kitten, Rascal. When I was here last I had 9 cats, went down to 8, I only have 4 now. We tried our best with all of them, Boo had a high thyroid but he died before we found out, I thik the vets putzed around too much and this eventually led to his death. So I've been a sad Panda from time to time.

:( thats sad..Im a cat lover myself...I had 2 cats, Herbie and Mango, but I had to move here to Red Deer from Vegreville to attend college.Herbie and Mango are still at home in Vegreville with my parents...At least they are being well looked after even when Im gone and I can still see them when I come home for christmas...I would have brought them but the place Im renting....no pets allowed. :(

I remember you well. Nice to "see" you!

I'm back. One good news is I got a job, been unemployed for a little while. I'll be selling auto parts with my grade school buddy at the same store. Well, actually, I mostly be delivering them. In a way, it will be good, with the Obama economy, people will want to keep their old heaps running.

I'm sorry to hear you were unemployed. I hope the new job works out for you.

Well, so far it is, I'm very busy running parts around., Yesterday, I was behind the wheel from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM. I had an emergency delivery to Midas for brake pads before I was to go home. It was for a woman who is two hours away from home and Midas was closing up, although they would work until her car was ready. I felt good thinking I was part of a chain to get her home yesterday. I had a delivery there today and they thanked me again and I found out she made it home OK.

That was a nice thing you did. I pulled into a Discount Tire one Saturday afternoon with a flat tire. They were driving off as they had just closed and turned around to come and take my car in and fix the flat. Two of them stayed and had it done in no time but I'm sure they'd have rather just gone home. They didn't even charge me because I buy my tires there. That's the kind of people I don't mind spending money with. In fact, since that incident about 16-17 years ago, I've spent several thousand dollars in there buying new tires on our vehicles.

Yeah, I was late in getting home but still, I felt good that I did something good that night.
