As long as the person speaks English such that I can understand it, and is respectful, and is selling something not completely ridiculous, I am willing to listen to what they have to say.
People who worry about telemarketers think way too highly of themselves. How much is 45 seconds of your time really worth?
In my elderly mothers case that 45 seconds has taken her for more than 5 grand last year alone.

I am getting more and computers phoning my home phone.... ahhhh
I have heard the do not call list can make it worse. I do not have call display... and I don't have time to play games with a computer.

That's not very nice. Moreso now in this recessed, depressed economy we live with, people take the jobs they can get. For a lot of people that is telemarketing. You know good and well it is not their fault nor should they be the ones to take the verbal beating for your distaste for telemarketers - if you feel that strongly, just pre-empt whatever they say with "Let me speak to your supervisor", then tell the next person you want to speak to THEIR supervisor. Ask for their name and ID number. Then tell that person how you feel and request to be removed from their call list.

So do you think that the KGB rank and file are not responsible for following orders to murder innocent people?
