US Government Asset Seizures on the Rise

This would cover United Nations, WTO, CFR, NAFTA, the US gov't. and US military actions etc.

Even at the level of seizing a vehicle for allegedly driving 50 km/h or more over the limit. Governments must not be allowed to circumvent normal rules of law for expediency or other purposes (i.e., further lining their coffers).

You realize that deaths on Ontario highways plunged after that law came into effect.

I did not realize that. How many deaths occurred on Ontario highways for the 5 years prior to the law and how many per year since? Also, how many of those deaths were ruled to be from speeds in excess of 50kph above the speed limit?

I dont know. I do remember reading the story after the Ministry of Transportation released the news. It had the numbers in it.

Anecdotally, if have noticed a big difference on the highways. Way more civilized out there now that people have realized there is a consequence for driving like a thoughtless jerk in your Daddy's sports car. Apparently, these idiots fear what their parents will say when the car gets impounded. Hard to hide that from your parents I guess.

You don't know! You can't provide the source...let me play your game screwy ..... you are feeding us bs....making false statements.... proof that all your claims are bogus....get it?! Difference is, I don't doubt you read such an article. You are still an arrogant liberal twit! :P

OK, you still have no taste in beer. Blue is like a northern edition of Miller.

I prefer lagers. Not really into the heavy ales or the darker beers.

Normally drink lite beer but Blue was on sale at the Beer Store the last 2 weeks. I like my beer but I dont like to get drunk or have a hangover, hence the reason I usually stick to lite beer.

Ya, I know. I am a beer wimp.

Your nieghbours are having their assets seized. Some of them are being taken into custody. You condone it as being for the good of the state. You won't speak against it for fear the authorities will start looking at you. When it happens to you or someone you care about you'll wonder why the people are letting this happen.
Enjoy your beer.

No, I condone it because it made our public highways safer.

Why should I have to put up with people treating our highways like an F1 race when all I want to do is get home in one piece. Fines alone were not stopping these people because money is apparently not an issue.

Dont drive like a a-hole and nothing will happen to you.

That's supposition on your part.

Until it does happen to you, which is what happens with all such programs.

Driving is a privledge. If I breaks the rules I have to face the consequences. That rule is posted on giant signs and we all have speedometers.

It is not a supposition, deaths on our highways are down. Added to that my anecdotal evidence that jerks passing me at a 100 mph has not happened to me in a few years now. It used to be a regular occurence.

Careful how you drink that beer. You may find yourself paying thousands to get your car out of impound or losing your home as the proceeds of crime.

Statists believe that drivel, but it does not fly with me. The ability to move about freely is a right.

Property confiscation turns the notion of "presumed innocent" on it's head. Besides, speed in and of itself is a stupid thing to criminalize.

You have no solid evidence highway deaths are down, let alone highway deaths that were caused by excessive speed. Add to that there is no conclusive link between confiscation and a decline in fatalities. The anecdotal evidence could easily be due to your excessive admiration for authoritarian govt giving you a perception of greater highway safety or it could be due to a slew of other factors unrelated to the legislation.

Either way, handing over more powers to the pigs just makes their real job, stealing from the taxpayer, all that much easier.
